Hugs

Happy Sunday! Today is the last day that the team posts of the Whiff of Joy blog. The store will still be open until mid-June so there is still time for you to shop.

It has been a wonderful time working with this amazing team and with the lovely Katharina. When I thought of what image to use on my card today, it didn't take very long to decide on this one :)

Henry Hugging Heart

Henry was colored with Twinkling H20s and then I fussy cut him out.

I will leave you now with a heart filled with gratitude. For the time spent on the time, the wonderful friendships formed and deepest thanks to you all for your support, creativity and friendship.

Whiff of Joy ~ A Tribute

Happy Tuesday! So, many of you have already heard the news that Whiff of Joy is closing as of the middle of June. The news is sad and having been a fan from the very beginning  and then a designer from very early on, the news affects me in a deeply personal way.

I began blogging in June 2008 and almost immediately found Katharina’s blog. I was amazed by her talent and then her generosity of spirit as we became “blog” friends. When she opened Whiff of Joy, I was one of the very first customers. At the beginning of 2009 I earned a guest spot on the team and then was asked to stay on. I never left and in recent years went on to be the DT coordinator. Of this I am extremely proud.

I wanted to pay tribute to Whiff of Joy, but more importantly, to Katharina. A truer more generous friend cannot be found. As much as I cherish having been a part of Whiff of Joy for all this time, I cherish Katharina’s friendship even more. She is taking a difficult step and an exciting one and moving forward. I wanted to wish her well and let her know that Whiff of Joy has made my life more full. Full of laughter, fun and friendship. Thank you my dear friend. I am happy that this is not good-bye as we both will still meet in blog land and through social media. One day, we will meet in real life. The only question is whether it will be in Canada or Switzerland.

My fellow DT members are amazing. Past and present members, all of you made me laugh and were a delight to work with. Did I tell you often enough? I hope so. It was a privilege to work alongside you!

So, what better way to give a tribute than a compilation video of some (not all….there are too many) of my DT cards for Whiff of Joy! Grab a cuppa and sit for awhile. Share my memories with me. To see this in HD please follow this link –>HERE

Thanks for joining me today and I hope you can join with me and wish Katharina well and let her know what Whiff of Joy has meant to you.

The store in still open and will be until mid-June. You still have time to grab some lovely things. The amazing DT will be creating new makes until the end of May. You can see them on our blog.

Sweet and Simple Cardsets

DSC_7007 copy_thumb[1]
I am trying to build up a collection of cute little sets of cards that can be mailed off quickly and without a huge postage cost. Minimize the bulk and you will be able to send these at a reasonable price ;)
  1. Start with  a few different colors of cardstock and matching ink pads.
  2. Cut the colored cardstock to measure 4’ x 5.25”.
  3. Cut card bases from regular white cardstock to measure 4.25’ x 5.5”. Fold in half and round  upper right-hand corner.
  4. Using a background stamp, stamp each piece of colored cardstock with the coordinating ink. Round upper right corner.
  5. Pick a focal image stamp. I used the gorgeous WoJ  Feather stamp set for my cards. Emboss using white embossing powder.
  6. Cut vellum strips to measure 2” x 4”. Sew onto your colored cardstock with white thread. I used a zig zag stitch.
  7. Adhere to the car dbases. Add assorted bling and stamp your sentiment with black ink. I used various sentiments from Whiff of Joy.
  8. Set aside to dry so that the ink sets and will not smear on the vellum
That’s it. By doing this in assembly line steps, you will have a whack of cards in no time flat!

16DaysOfChristmas

Jeanette Comerford

Happy Friday everyone and welcome to Day# 2 of Whiff of Joy’s 16 Days of Christmas stockings! Each day of this event, a member of the Design Team will be sharing their specially made stocking with you and you will get a chance to win the stamp that they used on their stocking! Each day of this event, you can leave a comment to be eligible to win the stamp showcased on that day. Remember to come back often to enter and to see if you are a winner. We will be posting the winners at 7am CEST.

Today I am delighted to be sharing my stocking with you. I was inspired by these gorgeous hand-sewn stockings and knew immeditately that I could capture this look using Whiff of Joy die-lights!

I found a stocking shape in the Silhouette store and quickly cut two out of some white cardstock. I adhered them together to make it a bit sturdier. I found patterned paper (Kaiser Craft Christmas Carnival) that echoed the fresh and crisp colors in the stockings. I used the medium chevron  from the Chevron die-lights set to cut out the patterned paper and then all I had to do was adhere them to my stocking. I covered the back in the same way and then lightly sponged the edges with some Tumbled Glass Distress Ink.

To embellish, I added my sweet Henry Mouse angel image and some adhesive gem stones. I punched a whole in the corner with my crop-o-dile and then threaded in some matching ribbon. I die-cut the tag using some glittered paper and then tied that to the ribbon with some baker’s twine. All done and I think that it will be a welcome addition to a special someone’s tree this year :)
