Designer Spotlight ~ Jane Johnson

Jane Johnson

Her blog: Jane’s Lovely Cards

Jane is a stay at home Mum to two sweet children. She represents the UK on our team and is also the coordinator of our Whiff of Joy Challenge blog. She has been with us for several years and is a tremendously talented crafter and a lovely, lovely person :) Her colorations are perfection and her cards are always inspirational!

Here are her answers to my questions:

1. How long have you been stamping and how did you get started?

I have been stamping since February 2009. I bought a card making kit at my local garden centre saying to my husband "this will save lots of money buying cards and give me something to do too" lol - little did I know that it would do the complete opposite of save us money lol!!!

2. What is it about Whiff of Joy Stamps that drew you to joining the Design Team?

I love how Whiff of Joy has such a variety of images, from cute to elegant and sentiments in gorgeous fonts too!

Copy_of_P1130681~0.JPG

3. How would you describe your style?

Oh, this is a tough question. I don't think I really have a style as I try to create a card that suites the image I'm using at the time so I end up with a lot of varying styles of cards. I do like to have distressed edges on almost all of them though!

4. Whom or what do you draw inspiration from?

The image I'm using mostly but also from visiting lots of gorgeous blogs!

5. Time to confess. Are you a messy crafter or a super neat one?

I'm afraid to say I'm a very messy crafter. I have a great big desk and always end up with a 7" square space to work on surrounded by piles of things. Every so often it gets to me though and I have a big tidy up but it usually only lasts about a week!

6. What is one of your all-time favorite color combos?

Chocolate, teal and cream is probably my all time favourite, although as the seasons change I tend to get a new all-time favourite!

7. What is your preferred coloring medium? Copics, Prismacolor pencils, Distress Inks, H20s?

My preferred medium by far is Copics but I also dabble with distress inks and Prismacolor pencils.

8. What are some of your favorite tools? The ones that you use every day and couldn't live without?

My number one favourite tool is my lovely Vagabond machine, then my glue gun, also distress inks, copics and lace, I love lace!

9. What is your favorite Whiff of Joy metal die?

The sweet tag with hearts die is my absolute favourite!

10. Finally, if you were a Whiff of Joy stamp, which one would you be?

Melinda with Muffin Basket, I love her clothes and hair and I am always baking muffins too lol!

Melinda with Muffin Basket**edited to add that this stamp is unfortunately out of stock **

Thanks so much Jane for answering all my questions and for the loads and loads of inspiration you bring to the team!

I hope you have enjoyed getting to know lovely Jane!

Thanks for stopping by. More spotlights are on their way so stay tuned :)

Designer Spotlight ~ Colleen Boshoff

Her blog: Col’s Creating Memories

Colleen is married to a very supportive  hubby and they have 3 gorgeous children, a daughter aged 10 and two boys aged 8 and 7. They also have our fur-baby, Miss Lily who is a cat, although she seems to think she is the baby of the house. They live in Queensland in the 'Outback' of Australia.  Colleen has wonderful coloration skills and an amazing ability to perfectly balance the embellishments on her cards and scrapbook layouts. She truly has a great eye for composition!

Here are her answers to my questions:

1. How long have you been stamping and how did you get started?

I have scrapbooked for a couple of years now but it was only in 2010 when I found my love of stamping. It was through a lovely on line store here in Australia that got me started, I wanted to try out Copics plus they had a gorgeous choice of stamps. After inking up my first stamp I was hooked!

2. What is it about Whiff of Joy Stamps that drew you to joining the Design Team?

Whiff Of Joy stamps were one of the first stamps I bought and have always been a favourite of mine. So with an amazing DT and Katharina who is so lovely, I knew straight away I would love to be part of the DT team.

3. How would you describe your style?

I always find this difficult to answer but I guess I would say my style is mainly shabby with lots of dimension, stitching, distressing and layers - I love detail!

4. Whom or what do you draw inspiration from?

I draw inspiration from my nearest and dearest around me as well as the internet while blogging, basically anything really because even a stamp or some patterned paper will give me inspiration!

5. Time to confess. Are you a messy crafter or a super neat one?

I would love to say neat but while I am busy especially if I have a deadline, it gets pretty messy but I always clean up before I start my next project. I need a clean desk to start off with!

6. What is one of your all-time favorite color combos?

Probably pink and brown with some white.

7. What is your preferred coloring medium? Copics, Prismacolor pencils, Distress Inks, H20s?

I love my Copics but I would love to try Prisma pencils one day.

8. What are some of your favorite tools? The ones that you use every day and couldn’t live without?

My favourite tool, definitely my distresser!

9. What is your favorite Whiff of Joy metal die?

I have heaps of favourites.........but if I am forced to choose I would have to say 'Leaves', always adds a perfect finishing touch to a project.

Leaves

10. Finally, if you were a Whiff of Joy stamp, which one would you be?

I would be 'Willow', if she is not baking cookies, she is drinking hot cups of cocoa or dreaming and she is beautiful!!

Thanks so much Colleen for answering  all my questions! It is so much fun to get some insight into your creative process!

I hope you have enjoyed getting to know dear Colleen!

Thanks for stopping by. More spotlights are on their way so stay tuned :)

Designer Spotlight ~ Angie Bächi

Angie lives in Switzerland with her husband and their two young sons. Her creations are a blend of vintage and shabby chic and she has the ability to combine elements to perfection.

clip_image001[5]

Here are her answers to my questions. She has answered in both English and German.

1. How long have you been stamping and how did you get started?

I started stamping in November 2007 just after giving birth to my second son. I was inspired by a woman who made herself the baby announcement cards. She gave me the address of a near Scrapbook Store. That's how everything started and meanwhile I'm addicted to this creative hobby! :)

2. What is it about Whiff of Joy Stamps that drew you to joining the Design Team?

From the beginning on I especially loved and still love the sweet Henry Mouse Stamps. That was my main reason *LOL* but I find that Katharina is such a kind person and she is offering in her shop an adorable range of products for card-making. And of course I was fascinated by the talented and inspiring Design Team Members! So, as on August 2011 Katharina came to me with her invitation to join her Design Team I was thrilled and it was no question... I had to say YES!!! :)

3. How would you describe your style?

Hmmmm... I just try out different things. Sometimes I use brightfull freshy colours and simple layouts, but otherwise I love the shabby chic/vintage look with lot of details on my cards... Anyway I LOVE LOVE LOVE sewing (with my sewing machine), distressing paper edges and brown Distress Ink to give it an aged look. And there's always some white Crackle Paint and Glitter glue sticking to my fingers. I allways create my card around the stamp to surround the stamp's character... I try to tell a story! Emotions made of paper is my theme.

Hmmmm... I probiere Verschiedenes.

4. Whom or what do you draw inspiration from?

Blogland is full of inspiration, but I never want to copy someone. I often just see a few elements of cards and immediately have my own ideas of interpretation... so I combine them in my very own style... create another story that I want to tell on my cards.

5. Time to confess. Are you a messy crafter or a super neat one?

It depends... normally I'm a super neat one. I am well organized and I get my desk clean. But if I have a big order or especially if I prepare for a market stand... O LORD then I'm so messy!!! Then I am so overboarding of ideas and put out all my stuff and don't find the time to clean my craft room.

6. What is one of your all-time favorite color combos?

Brown/Beige - White - Pastell Pink
Braun/Beige - Weiss - Pastell Rosa

7. What is your preferred coloring medium? Copics, Prismacolor pencils, Distress Inks, H20s?

Definitively Copic Markers, as the colours are so intense, they're refillable, they are sooooo great to use! But I also love to use Distress Inks on Aquarell Paper.

8. What are some of your favorite tools? The ones that you use every day and couldn’t live without?

My Big Shot & Big Shot Pro!!! ...with all the dies that go with!!! My paper edge distressing tool (by Making Memories) and my sponge with brown ink!!! My Bind-it-all !!! My Scissors, my paper Cutting tool & cutting mat!!! My bone folder & water tank brush!!!

Meine Big Shot & Big Shot Pro!!! Meine Bind-it-all !!! Meine Scheren, mein Papier-Schneidegerät & Schneidematte!!! Mein Falzbein & Wassertank-Pinsel!!!

9. What is your favorite Whiff of Joy metal die?

The French Lilies Border Die
Die Französische Lilien Bordüren Stanze

10. Finally, if you were a Whiff of Joy stamp, which one would you be?

Henry the Mouse :) what else... hihihi
Henry die Maus :) was sonst... hihihi

Thanks so much Angie for responding to my questions…and it two languages! It is always great to hear the different responses from the different DT members!

I hope you have enjoyed getting to know dear Angie! Thanks for stopping by. More spotlights are on their way so stay tuned :)
