16 Days of Christmas Day #2

Happy Friday everyone and welcome to Day# 2 of Whiff of Joy’s 16 Days of Christmas stockings! Each day of this event, a member of the Design Team will be sharing their specially made stocking with you and you will get a chance to win the stamp that they used on their stocking! Each day of this event, you can leave a comment to be eligible to win the stamp showcased on that day. Remember to come back often to enter and to see if you are a winner. We will be posting the winners at 7am CEST.

Today I am delighted to be sharing my stocking with you. I was inspired by these gorgeous hand-sewn stockings and knew immeditately that I could capture this look using Whiff of Joy die-lights!

I found a stocking shape in the Silhouette store and quickly cut two out of some white cardstock. I adhered them together to make it a bit sturdier. I found patterned paper (Kaiser Craft Christmas Carnival) that echoed the fresh and crisp colors in the stockings. I used the medium chevron  from the Chevron die-lights set to cut out the patterned paper and then all I had to do was adhere them to my stocking. I covered the back in the same way and then lightly sponged the edges with some Tumbled Glass Distress Ink.

To embellish, I added my sweet Henry Mouse angel image and some adhesive gem stones. I punched a whole in the corner with my crop-o-dile and then threaded in some matching ribbon. I die-cut the tag using some glittered paper and then tied that to the ribbon with some baker’s twine. All done and I think that it will be a welcome addition to a special someone’s tree this year :)

16 Days of Christmas Day #1

Hi, this is Katharina and it is Day #1 of Whiff of Joy’s 16 days of Christmas Stockings. During the next 16 days, the WoJ Design Team will inspire you with all kinds of projects, each of them in their personal, amazing style. All of these projects will show a Christmas Stocking, but given various uses.

Each day Whiff of Joy will give away one of the stamps used on the current project to one lucky winner. The winner will be randomly chosen from commenters of the particular day. Therefore you should check back often to be in the draw each day! :)
Every day, the new post goes live at 8 am. The winner from the previous day will be announced before the new post.

I used the template of THIS stocking and decided to create a minialbum. The cover and the backside are made of heavy carton to give it more stability.

I covered the cut out stockings with white acrylic paint and with patterned paper.
The inside pages are cut out from 300g white cardstock. I did them a bit smaller than the cover to give the minialbum a neat finish.

I wanted to create a large festive ornament for the front. Therefore I used the Nested Stars Die-light and cut all the sizes from patterned paper. Afterwards I also cut multiple layers of each size from white tissue paper.

I put the different layers on top of each other and adhered them to the stocking with a large brad. Afterwards I crinkled the papers a bit to give the ornament a more natural appearance.

A fun side effect: I used the negative of the cut-out stars as template for the inside pages.

 

  I used the beautiful “Glaube, Liebe, Hoffnung” stamp collection throughout the entire project. Therefore I want to offer it as today’s price.
