Magnetic Book Mark by Jane Johnson

Good morning! Hope you are having a relaxing Sunday so far. Jane here and today I want to share with you a book mark that is very quick to make - perfect for little stocking fillers or any time of year! This is no ordinary book mark though - it is magnetic! So it will never fall out of your book in your bag or if it is dropped on the floor for example! I am already needing to make lots more for my family as they all loved this!

YOU WILL NEED:

Two die cuts in cardstock

Two die cuts in designer paper

One image

One image mat in cardstock

A piece of ribbon

One set of magnets

1.

Take one of the magnets and glue it towards the bottom on the right side of one of the cardstock die cuts. I like to use a glue gun for this to ensure a strong hold!

2.

Line both pieces of cardstock together, wrong sides together. To get the correct placing for the second magnet place it onto the second piece of cardstock and it will, of course, snap together with the other magnet. You can then draw around it. You can now glue the second magnet in the correct place. The picture above shows the two magnets either side of the cardstock so you can see what I mean.

3.

You can now glue the paper pieces over the top of the magnets so that they are no longer visible.

4.

Turn one of the pieces over and attach some ribbon to the top of the wrong side (the top is the area without the magnet under the paper). It doesn't matter which piece you adhere the ribbon to.

5.

Cover the top section in glue to around a third of the way down as shown above. Add the second piece over the top. You will now have a bookmark with ribbon coming from the top and the bottom section opens and closes with the magnet. You are now ready to add your image and decorate the bookmark!

Here is my completed bookmark using one of the new mini stamps which are to be released on 1st December! Isn't that dragon fabulous!? Perfect for a bookmark for a fan of adventures and fairytales! Here's a closer look at how I've decorated my bookmark. I like to keep the decorations reasonably flat so that you can still close the book nicely. You will see how well the bookmark works in my fun photo below! You can shake it like crazy and it still will not fall out :)!

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial and I've inspired you to make one of your own! If you would like more details about the products I've used please visit my blog.
