Rolled Flowers with Karen

Hi Everyone its Karen here and today I would like to show you how to make a Rolled Flower!!  Some people might call these Spiral Flowers but they are the same thing!!  I, myself only recently learnt how to make these cute little flowers, so I thought I would share the information!! There are some die's available to cut out the spiral but why do that if you have a circle punch and scissors?? But if you want a totally even and neat flower then I guess you would need one of those...

Anyhoo, to make these cute flowers you will need the following:
  • Circle Punches - various sizes - what ever you have or you can use a Spellbinder Circle Die's
  • Double Sided Patterned Paper
  • Glue
  • Scissors

Step 1: You need to punch out some circles - if you use different size circle punches you will end up with different sized flowers!!

Step 2: You need to take your scissors and start cutting into your circle in a spiral - you can keep your spiral about 1/4" as you cut, doesn't matter about being a little crooked or rough, it will add to the effect of the finished flower, the the pictures below:

this is what you should end up with, in the below picture:

Step 3: You need to start rolling the flower from where you started cutting - and you need to roll it rather tightly - its a little tricky to start sometimes - but once you get it started you need to keep on rolling the paper tightly KEEPING THE BOTTOM EDGE OF THE FLOWER as Flat as possible, this is so you can glue it more easier, and depending on which way you roll it, you will different colour flowers, so I have some orange ones and some green ones!!

Step 4: when you get to the end - you need to hold your flower in your hand for a few seconds and then let it go - it will un-ravel a little bit, that's ok, because you will want to see the inside of the flower

Step 5: Place some strong glue on the little flap that's left from cutting and then push down the rest of the flower on to it... you might have to hold it for a little bit until its secure, and that's it!! 1 Rolled Flower completed!! Well Done!!

Here is my card that I have made with a bunch of Rolled Flowers in 2 different punch sizes, I have added some little Aster Paper Flowers to the mix here as well, just to soften up the look at little bit!!

I hope you like my card using the cute little Rolled Flowers, and I do hope you have enjoyed my tutorial on how to make them!!

Hugs
