Hi all, this is Alice. I am here to share a simple and fun stamp altering technique that I learned from my blog friend Amy Young. I altered the stamp Uru and Bird for my submission to Katharina's Guest DT call last month. I love this stamp so much, I was trying to find a way to use it all year round. So I decided to alter it. Here is the card that I made for the Guest DT call:
Here is how I did it.
First, pick the stamp that you want to use. Since I color with Copic markers, I use Memento ink.
When I was inking my stamp, I flipped the stamp up-side-down and used my ink pad to kiss my stamp.
When I was doing it, I tried avoid inking the birdhouse part of the stamp since I wasn't planning on using that part.
After I inked up Uru, I used a piece of baby wipe and slowly and carefully wipe away the areas that I didn't want to stamp. The Momento ink actually stays wet for a little while so you can take your time and make sure that you clean up the spots that you don't want to use.
This is the image that I got.
To add some flowers, I used a pencil first and then traced the pencil marks with a Copic Multiliner.
And here is the finished image. Now all I need to do is color away! I know that I forgot to draw the flower dangling down Uru's hat in this picture, but I added it before I started coloring the image. =)
Here is my finished card:
Hope you will try this fun technique and make your stamps even more versatile! =)
