Creating Custom Embellishments by Tori Hemingway

Happy Friday! Today I am going to show you how to create your own custom color-matched embellishments using Copics and alcohol inks.

For this card, I created embellishments to match my papers. Below, I have 3 different techniques to teach you how to quickly create your own! I prefer to buy plain embellishments and customize them - it stretches my dollar further since I don't need several colors of embellishments and leaves me more money for buying the fun stuff... more STAMPS!! To start, you will need:

Copic sketch markers, Copic ABS (airbrush system), alcohol inks, craft tweezers, small zipper bags, scratch paper, re positional adhesive or any light-tack adhesive, heat setting tool, clear rhinestones, Stickles (optional), clear dew drops and white paper flowers (like Primas).1. For Custom-Colored Flowers:I like to start by tacking my embellishments to my scratch paper lightly when airbrushing. Otherwise, the ABS will blow your flower away!! Using your Copic ABS and your favorite Copic Sketch color, lightly airbrush the flower.
For the center of the flower, I followed up with another color and carefully airbrushed the center.

2. For Custom Rhinestones & Dew Drops
using Copic ABS:
Tack down your rhinestone and airbrush with your favorite color. You will want to lightly heat set this otherwise, the colors will smear. You could probably let it air dry as well, but not sure how long it would take. This picture shows a before & after - see how easily you can customize plain embellishments?
Another look using clear Dew Drops and Copics:
They come out so vibrant and pretty! You will want to heat set these too.

3. Using Alcohol inks:

**This technique works great with dew drops or rhinestones!!**

Using the small zipper bags, your favorite alcohol ink and some dew drops, add a few drops of the dew drops to the baggie and shake.

Be sure to get the dew drops well coated, or you will end up with some clear spots.
Using the tweezers, remove the dew drops/rhinestones to scratch paper and allow a few minutes to dry. I did not heat set these as they dried very quickly.

Here is a shot of what the before and after looks like.

**If you wanted to take it a step further, you could add some clear stickles to the dew drops!**

I wanted to show you my finished card once again. You can see the flower, rhinestones and dew drops that were created above! Easy-peasy!

Very pretty card and thanks for the tutorial on making custom embellishments. I need to know how you did the sheerness on her scarf, I am having a horrible time on getting my scarf to look like I want it to. Thanks.
