Fun in the snow by tanjaak

Hello all! I'm here today to share with you a technique called cracked glass...I know it has been shown even here before but it is such a cool technique that I think it deserves to be shown yet again. You may have come across this tutorial before if you read the russian magazine Scrap-Info (my first published work ever Wooohooo!)

You  will need these materials to make this project: the stamp: Penguins Winter Fun, ink , paper and colouring medium of your choice, white, brown and kraft cardstock and dp´s, adhesive, embellishments (in this case paper flowers and brads), watermark ink pad, UTEE, plastic tub, tweezers, heating tool, distress ink and a Cuttlebug or other diecutting machine and some oval dies. This technique is based on quick cooling of the UTEE so you should remember to try this technique in a place where there is a freezer. Stamp your image onto white heavyweight paper according to your colouring medium.

Cut your stamped image into an oval shape, also cut a scalloped oval from brown cardstock to go under your image

Colour your image.

Apply watermark ink all over your image, place it into a plastic tub and pour UTEE into the tub covering the whole image. Tap of any excess UTEE.

Start to heat with a heating tool. Hold your image in place with tweezers or with the tip of your scissors and remember that UTEE gets really hot as it melts. Continue heating (should take only seconds) until your UTEE has completely melted. Repeat this procedure at least three times and put the image now into a freezer for about 5 minutes.

Your image should be curled up when you take it out of the freezer.

Twist and brake the UTEE until you are satisfied with the end result, you can always melt the UTEE again and start over if you are not happy with the way it has cracked.

Apply some distress ink to make the grooves and cracks more visible.

It´s time to assemble the card!

And here's my finished creation. This image is really perfect for this time of the year. Now it's time to hit the slopes!...or just stay in and get creative with your WoJ stamps!
