Gardenia Handmade Flowers by Michele Roos

Hi there and thanks for stopping by today. My name is Michele Roos and I have created a tutorial for you on how to make Gardenia flowers.
image
You will need the following items:-
image
3 five petalled flower shapes, one of them being slighter smaller (I have used the slice design card to make mine)
1 leaf shape
length of string
yellow Watercolour tube of paint
clothes pegs
pricking tool & tweezers
cup of water
glue
image
To start with separate the string into individual pieces and use one of the pegs to hold it in place. Now with the short end of the string start to dip it into the tube of Watercolour paint. Do this roughly 5 times until it resembles the above picture. Do this with the rest of the string that is left and then place them facing downwards to let them dry.
image
Next dip the flower and leaf shape into the cup of water (make sure it gets quite wet) and then place on some kitchen paper to drain the excess water off.
image
Now carefully scrunch up each flower and leaf shape till it resembles the above picture.
image
Next carefully unravel them making sure that you don’t flatten them out too much.
image
Now get your heat gun out and start to dry the flowers and the leaf. When they start to dry they should start to curl up (like in the above photo)
image
In the middle of one of the larger flowers, place a small bit of glue and then place the next largest flower on top. Then place a small bit of glue in the centre of this flower and then place the smallest flower on top. Now with your pricking tool or something similar, make a hole in the centre that is large enough for the handmade stamens to go through.
image
Now get your dry handmade stamens and put them together making sure that they are roughly aligned the same at the top.
image
For the next step, feed the stamens through the hole from the top and then turn upside down and place some glue all around the string.
image
While the glue is still wet, move the string to one side and then place the leaf on top.
image
Now turn the flower the right way up and wait for the glue to dry.

And here is another flower that I made using the same method.
I hope that this tutorial has given you some ideas on how to make handmade flowers.
