Belly Band tutorial

Hello, Stacy here with a belly band tutorial. I am also going to show you a *sneak sneak peek* of a New release stamp coming this February called I will take care of you featuring the adorable Maya. So let's get started.

You will need a few things for this tutorial. 1- 8 1/2 x11 sheet solid cardstock, designer paper at least 6x6 in size, scoring tool, dies, stamp, embelishments and adhesive.

Take your 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of cardstock and score at 3 inches and 7 1/2 inches. Now turn your paper so the shorter side (8 inch side) is at the bottom and cut your paper at 5 1/2 inches. Then turn both sheets back length wise and it should look as below. Set your smaller piece to the side to work with later.

Turn your main piece of cardstock over as we will decorate the back. I have layered another solid color and then a designer piece on top. If you choose to stamp your cardstock then this is where you would do this as well. You will want to keep in mind that anything sticking up such as pearls or jewels will grab when you are pulling the belly band piece down, so limiting that to flat embelishments is strongly suggested.

This is what it will look like when you adhere your designer pieces of paper. Now set aside the base and we will work with the band portion seen below. I have taken the band portion and cut 1 inch off the length to make it a little thinner. You can keep it as wide as we had it cut or trim it down, just personal preference for the image you are using. A decorate design is added here and I choose the beautiful heart lace border for mine.

Then we add designer paper or stamped images if you would like. Mine has a solid base again and some designer paper. Don't worry about the seem when you over lap the papers as you will not see this when the bell band is closed.
Flip your band over and place your main card piece we set aside in the middle. You will want to line up hearts when you fold it over and it will be tight fitting, that is what you want. See how the hearts are lined up when they over lap? The seam will not be seen again so don't worry about that portion.

Now that you have your belly band closed you will add a panel that you will slip on and off. I have used a Spellbinders shape for my panel along with some Twiner pieces that I punched out. They will be hidden under my panel so I am not too worried how they are adhered to the base panel.

Now I add my stamped panel over the belly band panel and decorate as I wish. Here is the final result. You have so many options on how to decorate its really fun. See the twinery sticks out the sides and I added some rolled roses to the sides and my sentiment tag. My sentiment is from General Stayings II.

When you take the belly band off this is what it will look like. On the inside I have added more of the designer paper to my message piece to complete my creation.
Hope you enjoyed the tutorial and have fun playing. Happy Stamping!

Chalkboard effect on paper

Katharina Frei

Hi, this is Katharina with a fun tutorial about how to create a simple chalkboard effect on paper.
You might have noticed that chalkboards are super hot in interior design and in crafts at the moment. The contrast between black and white is a beautiful eye-catcher on you papercraft creations as well.

Start with a piece of black cardstock, opaque white ink and an acrylic block (or a ruler). Press the thin border of the block on the ink and smear it over the black cardstock. Do this several times in no particular pattern.

Dry with your heatgun and use an embossing buddy to remove static (this also gives a great chalkboard effect :)

Now you can start stamping with clear embossing ink. I created a lovely collage using different Whiff of Joy text stamps.

Finally, distress the corners of the black cardstock with white ink.

Memo Box

Hallo,

Hi,

hier ist Andrea von Schnipsel und mehr. Heute habe ich Euch
eine Anleitung für einen Notizzettelaufsteller mitgebracht.

here is Andrea from Schnipsel und mehr. Today i have a Tutorial for a memo box

Ihr benötigt:

Cardstock: 13cm x 26cm - 13 cm x 16 cm - 11,5 cm x 24 cm

Scorpal und Falzbein

Klebeband, Schere ect.

Deko

Notizzettel 9 cm x 9 cm

You need:

Cardstock: 13cm x 26cm - 13 cm x 16 cm - 11,5 cm x 24 cm

Scorpal

glue, scissors & co.
decoration

memo 9cm x 9 cm

For the card's base you need a 13 x 26 cm piece of cardstock . Score it in the middle. Then you need a piece of 13 x 16 cm, score from the long side at 4,8,12 and 16 cm. Now adhere the middle part.

Now you need the cardstock with 11,4 x 24 cm. Socre on the long side at 1cm, 3cm, 12,5cm and 14,5cm, on the short side at 2 cm.Cut and fold as seen in the photo.

If you want to decorate the background and, you have to do this now, then stick the box with a strong glue tape. Ready!

I hope you have fun with the tutorial.

XOXO Andrea

Whiff of Joy Guest Designer for February & March

Happy Saturday Everyone! As you may remember, after we had our Design Team call, we had a really hard time choosing the team. There were so many amazing entries but we couldn’t take everyone. That is when we decided that we would ask some of our fabulous entrants to be our Guest Designers!

For February and March, I am delighted to announce that our Guest Designer will be:

Linda Kläringe from Pysselbus

Linda Pysselbus copy

We are in love with Linda’s fantastic coloration skills and her sense of composition in all her creations!

We asked Linda to tell us a little bit about herself. Here is what she wrote:

“My name is Linda and I'm a 34 year old mother of two darling little boys (three if you count my husband *lol*). We live in a small town in Sweden. I've been a member of the Whiff of Joy Challenge DT for about 6 months and was sooo excited when Jeanette asked if I wanted to join the Whiff of Joy team as a guest for two months! No need to think twice about that!

I have been crafting for little over 3 years. I started out wanting to make a card for my sister's wedding in 2009 and since then I've been totally bitten by the crafting bug. I mostly make cards, but on occasion I can also alter things or make layouts. For my cards I often use loads of flowers and different decorations and I'm not really happy with a card unless I can use a hand-colored image on it. I love to color and I use distress refills, distress markers and Copics for my images. I fell in love with the gorgeous images from Whiff of Joy the first time I saw them and my first ever images was Willow with baby and Willow with toddler. Since then it's a growing collection and I really love how they have developed over the years. So I'm really honored to be asked to guest-DT for a company that sell the images I have admired and loved since the beginning of my crafting days.

I hope that I will be able to inspire you all a bit - you can find my weekly postings on my blog http://pysselbus.blogspot.com

Thanks so much for accepting to be our Guest Designer for the next two months! We can’t wait to see all that you create :)

Have a great week-end everyone :)

Hugs Jeanette xxo
