Paper Heart Wreath with Henry Mouse

Eventually just because of the unbelievable cold front that is actually comming over us I have such desire for springtime :) And that's why I (Angie) have a flowery-hearty project to show. It's a wreath made of paper hearts with Henry Mouse...

To create the hearts I took 2 sheets of 12x12" Designpaper and cutted it the whole lengh along into 5cm wide stripes. That made 12 stripes. Then I folded them in half and bended both open ends to the middle to stick together to bring it to the heart shape. Then stuck all 12 hearts together. punched wholes to hang it up with the amazing WOJ-Ribbon. The sweet Henry Mouse with the huge heart is stamped 4x, kolored out and stuck with glue dots to the ribbons.  Attached 4 Mullberry Paper Rosses... et voilà! Ready for Spring :D

Liebe Grüsse,
Angie

As a Member Company, Whiff of Joy has its very own forum. A place where we are sharing Sneak Peeks of our new releases and some awesome tutorials and ideas from our very talented dream Design Team. We will soon be starting a new feature where we will do a Spotlight on each of our designers. It would be a perfect time to get to know them better and maybe ask them some questions!

We want to send an invitation out to YOU, to come and chat with us and share your Whiff of Joy creations with us! That’s right, you can upload your Whiff of Joy cards to our own Gallery!

If you are a member of Splitcoaststampers already, then….come on over to our Whiff of Joy Forum ~here~.

Uploading Photos to the Splitcoaststampers Gallery

  • Please tag your photos with these tags: WhiffofJoy Whiff_of_Joy WhiffOfJoy
  1. On the SCS homepage you will see the link to the gallery at the upper right-hand side. Click on that and you will be brought to another page.
  2. Now click on upload a card which is on the right-hand side under around the site. This brings you to where you will add your cards. Just follow the directions.
  3. When you are finished click on upload/submit. You should be brought to another page where you will see the thumbnails of your cards and you will now add the card details. If you don't get directed to this page, your upload failed. Try uploading less cards at a time or smaller versions. That seems to help.

We can’t wait to see YOU and YOUR creations over at Splitcoaststampers!

Colouring Images in Black and White by Jane Johnson

Good morning!  Today I want to show you how to colour images in just black and white.  This is very effective and looks tricky but is actually quite easy!  For my tutorial I am using Copic markers to colour but the basic principal is the same whatever you use to colour with!  Our current challenge at Whiff of Joy Challenges is to colour your image in just black and white so perhaps you would like to join in too!
 First you need to decide where the light will be coming from in your picture.  I have chosen to have the light coming from the left hand side of the image.  You will then need to decide which pieces of clothing etc are going to be dark "colours" and which will be white or light "colours".  I have coloured my image so that the apron is white, the trousers a dark colour and the top a paler colour.  This helps you decide which grey shade to use as the darkest colour on each area.  In the photo above I have added all my shadows using W7 for the darkest areas (trousers, shoes, hair and underside of umbrella) and W5 for the lighter areas (skin, top, and apron).
 It is then just a case of adding the next shade lighter to each area, just like you would if you were colouring them in coloured ink.  On the photo above I have added W3 over and beyond all the W5 areas on the skin, top and apron.
 On the photo above you can see how I have now added further colour to the trousers, hair and umbrella using W5 over the top of the original W7 lines and working out from them, again, just as you would if you were using different colours.
 I have finished the trousers and underside of the umbrella in this photo by using W3, my lightest shade for these areas.  So, in all I have used W7, W5 and W3 on these dark areas.
 Next I have used W1 to complete the lighter areas on the image - the top, skin, trouser turn ups and the top of the umbrella.  So, in all I have used W5, W3 and W1 in these paler areas.  Note that I have left some areas completely free of colour - the centre of her face, the tops of her hands and most of the apron - these are the highlights and will remain completely white.
 Next, I use 00 (colourless blender) to blend where I have left the white areas so that the W1 lines fade into the white areas rather than harsh pen strokes.
 Finally, I add a shadow using W5 underneath the umbrella handle.
Here is the finished image.  I have used a white gel pen to pick out some of the embroidery detail on her trousers and for the spots of the umbrella.

Here is my finished card using the image.  If you would like more details on the rest of my card, please see my blog.

Polyshrink colored with Polychromos

Good morning to you all!!!
Here is Giò........ today I want to show you how realize some delicious charms for your jewels.
The technique is the Polyshrink colored with Polychromos.
It is simple and fast and you don't need to be good in coloring so this is a technique that everybody can try.

This is the list of supplies you will need:
Polyshrink
Sand Block
Stamps I used
Penguin Love
 Birdie Love
Penguin Trio
Staz On Ink
Polychromos
Johnson's baby oil or if you prefer Mineral  Oil
Scissor
Heat tool
Diamond Glaze or other gloss

First of all you need to sand the Polyshrink surface, in this way the ink will adhere it better.

With Staz On stamp your image on Polyshrink.

 You can color with Polychromos as you prefer, I usually use at least two colors
to take depth to the image.....

 Continue to color and don't exaggerate, remember that when Polyshrink reduce
themselves the colors saturate.

Now with a stump wet with oil blend the colors as they merge in.

 Cut the image carefully.

Punch the top and don't use a too small punch because the hole will grow smaller.

Heat the Polyshrink with the heat tool that will grow smaller. As you heat it the piece will crumple.....
don't be afraid, it will be normal again at the end of the process......

Then to help yourself you can put an acrylic block as you turn the heat tool off.

To protect and polish the surface use a gloss.

Here are my charms ready..... aren't they too cute?

I realized a bracelet, but you can also realize earrings, necklaces and more else!!!

I really hope that this way to use the stamps will like you and my tutorial will be helpful.

Thanks for stopping by

 ~~~~~~~
The lovely Dunja had the wonderful idea to pimp some clothespins. How great!
I was so excited about it that I had to pimp some of them also. So I made a little tutorial with the help from Kleine85/Tanja for you.
Ihr braucht/ you need
Wäscheklammern / Clothespins
Stempelkissen / Inkpad
Textstempel / Text
Bänder / Ribbon
Spitze / Lace
Halbperlen / Half pearls
Rosen / Roses
.....
Ihr nehmt den Text den ihr euch ausgesucht habt und stempelt ihn durch abrollen des Acrylblocks auf die Wäscheklammer.
Das ist einfacher als es aussieht.
~~~~~~~
Take the text you want and stamp it on the clothespins. The best way for this is rolling up the acrylic block on the pin.
It's easier than it looks like.

~~~~~~~
Then you just have to take the decoration and put it on the clothespins.
Here are my lovely ones.
Viel Spaß beim Nachbasteln
~~~~~~~
Have fun with this tutorial.

XOXO Sonja

Mini-Album with Henry Adventure/Travel Collection

Hi Ladies,

I (Angie) am an absolute fan of Henry Mouse. So are my 2 boys... each new Henry-Stamp is inked up first by my 2 little artists. Only then I'm allowed to :) And so it was just a question of time until I made a Mini-Album entirely with Henry. Naturally out of the Adventure/Travel Collection. These fit so perfectly my two adventurers... I also used the great Background-Clearstamps (Dots & Circles). They're so effectfull, as I find...

The Mini-Album can be opened from the middle to both sides left and right. The sides (Squares) are 15x15 cm and made of naturally brown cardstock. The album covers (front and backside) are made of thin carton and I've covered with design-papers, what gives more stability to the album (especially between kid's hands *LOL*). I've stamped the Henry-Images and background stamps with brown Memento Ink directly to the brown cardstock.

Wünsche Euch viiiiiiiel Spass mit Henry der Maus :)
Wish you sooooooo much fun with Henry the Mouse :)

Hugs,

Angie & my 2 Boys ;D
