Rolled Flowers with Karen

Hi Everyone its Karen here and today I would like to show you how to make a Rolled Flower!!  Some people might call these Spiral Flowers but they are the same thing!!  I, myself only recently learnt how to make these cute little flowers, so I thought I would share the information!! There are some die's available to cut out the spiral but why do that if you have a circle punch and scissors?? But if you want a totally even and neat flower then I guess you would need one of those...

Anyhoo, to make these cute flowers you will need the following:
  • Circle Punches - various sizes - what ever you have or you can use a Spellbinder Circle Die's
  • Double Sided Patterned Paper
  • Glue
  • Scissors

Step 1: You need to punch out some circles - if you use different size circle punches you will end up with different sized flowers!!

Step 2: You need to take your scissors and start cutting into your circle in a spiral - you can keep your spiral about 1/4" as you cut, doesn't matter about being a little crooked or rough, it will add to the effect of the finished flower, the the pictures below:

this is what you should end up with, in the below picture:

Step 3: You need to start rolling the flower from where you started cutting - and you need to roll it rather tightly - its a little tricky to start sometimes - but once you get it started you need to keep on rolling the paper tightly KEEPING THE BOTTOM EDGE OF THE FLOWER as Flat as possible, this is so you can glue it more easier, and depending on which way you roll it, you will different colour flowers, so I have some orange ones and some green ones!!

Step 4: when you get to the end - you need to hold your flower in your hand for a few seconds and then let it go - it will un-ravel a little bit, that's ok, because you will want to see the inside of the flower

Step 5: Place some strong glue on the little flap that's left from cutting and then push down the rest of the flower on to it... you might have to hold it for a little bit until its secure, and that's it!! 1 Rolled Flower completed!! Well Done!!

Here is my card that I have made with a bunch of Rolled Flowers in 2 different punch sizes, I have added some little Aster Paper Flowers to the mix here as well, just to soften up the look at little bit!!

I hope you like my card using the cute little Rolled Flowers, and I do hope you have enjoyed my tutorial on how to make them!!

Hugs
Karen

Pocket card by Jorunn

Happy Monday!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
I sometimes need the variety from ordinary cards, but I don't always have the energy or time
to make a card using some of  all these fabulous folding techniques...
so I simple pocket card can be just the variety I need...

You don't need a tutorial for this one...
just glue the sides together, make the front a little shorter then the back,
leave an opening on the top (or on the side) and put a tag in the opening...lol... that simple..

Here is my pocket card;
I have used the new and adorable image
I have colored him in using Copic Sketch Markers and chalk.
For the edges I have used the new Whiff of Joy border die
Under the turquoise rose I have use the die

Here is the tag pulled out;

Here is a little tip for you when using the border punches;
To make sure you cut the edge straight
you can use regular scotch tape and glue tape the die to the cuttlebug plate,
and slip the card stock or paper under neath it.
The paper and the die will stay in it's place like this and you can cut a straight edge!

Here is another pocket card I made a few days ago...
I use it to keep my New year resolution in...lol...
I have used the gorgeous image Nora with Rose on this card;
Here is the tag with my New year resolution on;

I hope this was to some inspiration to you
and an idea to how to have some variety on your cards.
Have a wonderful week!

Card stairs with Murielle

Hello to all! Murielle it!
It starts a new year and on this occasion I wish you and your family a happy new year 2011 with much happiness and wonderful creations.

Here is my project in January, is a map that I call "card Stairs".

That's what you need: 1 sheet 30 x 30cm.
Cut this sheet 16 x 30cm.

Measure the horizontal edges: 2.5 - 5 - 17.5 cm.
A 2.5 cm from the horizontal top and bottom, you will draw other
small features to 2.5 - 5 - 17.5 cm.
Draw lines that connect them with a bone folder.
Cut with a cutter to 2.5 cm from the top and bottom of the map the line from 2.5 to 17.5 cm.
Then fold in half the card.
I hope my explanation helped you!

To achieve this card, I used the stamps "Bird with Christmas bauble and Season's Greetings" and dies "Snowflakes trio, Fancy Shape" that you find in store.

That's the result!

I hope I have given an idea.

Thanks for stopping by!
Hugs, Murielle

Book Box Tutorial by Michele Roos

Hi there everyone and hope that you have all had a wonderful start to 2011. Today I'd like to show you how to make this book box

Before you begin here's a list of supplies that you need :-

Scoring device (I've used my Fiskars one)
One 27cm x 15cm cardstock (for the actual box)
Two 24cm x 12cm cardstock (for the book part)
Two 24cm x 10cm cardstock (for the book part)
Four 11.5cm x 14.5cm plain paper (to decorate)
Four 11cm x 14cm designer paper (to decorate)
Fast drying glue
Double-sided tape
Ribbon (to tie the box and also to decorate)

Step 1
Score on the longest part of both 24cm x 12cm cardstock at 2cm, 4cm, 6cm, etc (then do the same with the 24cm x 10cm pieces of cardstock)

Step 2
Now turn the cardstock onto the other side and now score at 1cm, 3cm, 5cm, 7cm etc (do this to the remaining cardstock that you previously scored)

Step 3
Now start folding all the score lines following until the cardstock resembles the picture below

Step 4 (optional)
For this part I've inked all the edges on the cardstock using Brushed Corduroy including the back

Step 5
Take one of the 24cm x 12cm cardstock and drop some glue into the folds.

Step 6
Now take one of the 24cm x 10cm corrugated cardstock and join it to the other part which was glued previously (see below picture for a guide) Now do the same to the last two remaining pieces of corrugated cardstock. Put to one side to let the glue dry completely.

Step 7
While you are waiting for the corrugated cardstock to dry score the 27cm x 15cm cardstock at 12cm then rotate it to 180 degrees and score again at 12cm (it should resemble the picture below)

Step 8 (optional)
Ink around all the edges, I've used Brushed Corduroy including the back.
 Step 9 (optional)
Now ink around all the edges of the plain and designer paper.

Step 10
Attach all four 11.5cm x 14.5cm plain paper to each sides of the cardstock leaving it blank in the middle section

Step 11
On the top right hand section attach a long piece of ribbon using the double-sided tape

Step 12
On the inside right hand side attach another piece of long ribbon using double-sided tape. On the four pieces of design paper apply double-sided tape around the edges and then adhere to the plain pieces of paper.

Step 13
On one side of the corrugated that you put to one side earlier, drop some glue into the middle of each section

Step 14
Then attach the other corrugated cardstock making sure that the sections are in the right places (see below photo for reference)

Step 15
Now apply glue to the other side so that all sections are now attached

Step 16
At the bottom of the book frame, apply quick drying glue all around and then place it on the inside right hand side of the cover. Then when it has dried apply glue all around the top of the frame and place ribbon all around the edges.

Now the rest is up to you on how you would like your book box to look. Below I've added some photos on the finished result to give you some ideas.

This is how I decorated the inside cover using scrap pieces of cardstock and designer paper.

This is the tag that I made using the Magical Tag die from Whiff of Joy.

This is how the side of the box looks and I've used the sentiment from the Blooming Spring Stamp kit from Whiff of Joy.

The image that I've used is the gorgeous Melinda with Bouquet and I've coloured her using my ProMarker and AquaMarker pens.

I hope that you've enjoyed this tutorial and thanks for stopping by.

Twinkling H2O colour study by Katharina Frei

Hi everybody! Have I told you lately how much I love my Twinklings? :)
I had some spare time yesterday evening (yes, sometimes I do have time for myself...LOL) and what does an obsessed papercrafter and cardmaker do, when she has time for herself?? Yes, you are right... she colours 3 stamped images just for fun :)

I tried different colour combinations of Twinkling H2Os on this brand new Whiff of Joy stamp called "Henry with heart balloon". New stamps always make me happy, so I picked this one for my "happy" time :)
So today I would like to show you how the different colour combinations look and what different look and feel those colours give to the image (allthough Henry has a brown fur each time). You can then decide which one you like the best. My personal favourite is Henry with the blue balloon, my husband liked the one with the orange ballon best.
Note: If you are new to Twinkling H2Os, then have a look at this video to watch how it works.

Hallo miteiander!
