Decorating a box with tanjaak

Hello and happy sunday! Today I would like to show you how I have decorated a cardboard box I found from IKEA. These cute boxes where sold in sets of three and the one I am decorating here is the middle size (about 10x10x7,5cm). So let's get started!

You'll need:
 some pieces of cardstock (9,3x9,3cm and 8.9x8.9cm)
dp (8,5x8,5cm)
your image cut into a circle shape (I have used Henry Christmas Mouse) and corresponding scalloped circle cut out of cardstock
ink and a corner stamp + some accessory stamps (I've used snowflakes from WoJ's 2009 winter stamp kit)
distress ink
ribbon
self adhesive pearls
Magical Tag metal die
adhesive
...and the box of course

First go through all the edges with some distress ink.

Then stamp the edges with your corner stamp.

...and now add some snowflakes where you want to.

Next adhere your ribbon to the lid, place the ending into the middle of one side as next you'll cover it up with your tag.

Cut the Magical tag in two and adhere it to opposite sides of the lid. Now all you need to do is assemble the layers of cardstock and your ready coloured image and add some pearls as a finishing touch and your box is ready.

Here's my box finished and ready to be given to that special friend. I have to admit I bought several sets of these boxes so I guess a lot of my friends and family will be getting their Christmas presents in these boxes. You don´t really need much of a gift as these boxes are so cute, maybe hide some candy inside and your set to go!

Have fun!

Creating A Frame Using The New Whiff of Joy Dies by Michele Roos

Hi there and thanks for stopping by. Today I would like to show you a quick tutorial on how versatile these fabulous new metal dies from Whiff of Joy can be.

DSCF9566
First off cut the shapes out using cardstock – For my project I’ve cut out 4 grass shapes and 2 pennant shapes.

DSCF9569
I’ve then cut the pennant shapes to make them into 6 separate triangles and then inked around all the edges of the die cuts using Frayed Burlap Distress Inks.
DSCF9571
I’ve then cut out a circle shape that is approx 8cm in diameter and then used double-sided tape around the edges.
DSCF9572
Now I start sticking down the die cuts as shown above.
DSCF9574
After sticking all of the die cuts down, this is what it should look like at the back
DSCF9578
And this is how it looks at the front
DSCF9580
And here again I’ve used the Grass and Pennant dies for the leaves on the flowers and I’ve used the Magical Tag die to cut out the ‘Willow Holding Baby’ image.
I hope that this little tutorial has shown you how versatile these dies can be.
Hugs Michele x

Masking & Backgrounds with Nichol Magouirk

Hey everyone!
Nichol Magouirk here today with a quick video tutorial showing how I mask my WOJ images to create a scene and how I stamp backgrounds over the WOJ scenes.

I really love the look of dimension without the bulk. It makes mailing a card so much easier for me. I have found that by masking my images, I am able to create lovely dimensional scenes that are not bulky at all!

Here is the card I made using the sitting WOJ Oakley, Fence and General Sayings Greeting Stamp:

Here's how:

Using Whiff of Joy's charms by Jane Johnson

Today I want to show you ways which you can use some of Whiff of Joy's beautiful charms, beads and pins which take a little more thinking about than just adding to a chain!

You will need:

Pin )
Silver bead ) all from Whiff of Joy
Butterfly pendant charm )
A small scrap of paper to match your card
liquid pearls
glossy accents
scissors
pencil (not too sharp a point on it - it needs to be a rounded end!)
silicone glue

1.

Here are the three items from Whiff of Joy that I am going to make into embellishments for a card.

2.
Firstly, to make a beautiful pin, squeeze a small amount of silicone glue onto the pin as shown. Not too near the head of the pin or it won't keep the bead in place!

Simply slide the bead down to the end of the pin over the silicone glue. Some glue will ooze out around the head of the pin. Remove this with some scrap card to ensure a neat finish.
3.
Allow to dry making sure to keep it head down whilst the glue sets. I press the head of the pin into some blu tak until it is dry or you could stick into some polystyrene too.
4.
Now for the trickier part - the butterfly pendant charm! Take a small scrap of paper making sure it is larger than the oval pendant on the bottom of the charm.
5.
Place the paper patterned side down over the oval and using your blunt pencil press and draw round the inside of the oval as close to the edges as you can. (a sharp pencil will tear the paper)

When you have finished it will look like this.
6.
Turn the piece of paper over and you can see that you now have the perfect shape of the oval inset embossed into the paper!
7.
Cut carefully around the embossed area.

8.

Glue the paper oval into position using a small amount of glossy accents.

9.
Now cover the entire paper area with glossy accents and allow to dry. Then repeat with another coat of glossy accents for a raised finish that looks like a gemstone is in the oval!
10.
Now for the small circle areas. Fill each one carefully with liquid pearls creating a raised pearl in the centre of each one.
11.
Once the liquid pearls are dry cover them with some glossy accents too so that they shine nicely and allow to dry.
12.
Here are the finished embellishments........

......and here they are on my card! As you can see, the oval was filled with a piece of the top backing paper so that it matches the card perfectly! I have also used one of Whiff of Joy's new dies on my card. The beautiful grass effect behind the butterfly edge has been created with Whiff of Joy's new grass die. It is on sale now along with two more useful and beautiful dies here!
Hope you enjoyed the tutorial, thanks for looking! x

NB. The charms and bead used in this tutorial were a free gift with purchases for a limited time and unfortunately are no longer available.

Tatü-Box

Material:
Cardstock
Designpapier
Motiv eurer Wahl
Falzboard
Schere
Bleistift
Lineal
Kleber
Kreisstanzer

Material:
Cardstock
Design paper
Whiff of Joy Stamp
Score board
Scissors
Pencil
Ruler
Glue
Circle Punch

~~~~~~~
To start you need a firm piece of cardboard (cardstock/construction paper) measuring 16,6cm  x 13cm.
On the long side draw lines: 5,5 cm, 7,8 cm, 13,3 cm and 15,6 cm.
 Fold the cardstock vertically along the marked lines.
Along the short side draw a line 2cm from the edge and fold. This will become the bottom of the Tatü-box (Tissue box).
At each folded line you cut an incision up to the folded line. To ensure a clean and neat finishing I cut the incision slightly slanted.
 Als nächstes stanzt ihr in den beiden großen Flächen mit dem Kreisstanzer je eine Mulde, dadurch lassen sich die Taschentücher nachher leichter aus der Verpackung holen.
~~~~~~~
 Next step is to punch a half moon in each of the large areas of the cardstock. This will help to pull out the tissues from the packet.
Now cut your design paper that you will be using to decorate.
twice:   5,3cm x 10,6cm
twice: 1,9cm x 10,6cm
Also punch a half moon in both of the bigger pieces of design paper.

To ensure that the paper has some depth you can distress the edges with a sponge. Then you can glue all parts on to the cardstock.
Last but not least glue your box together and decorate
I hope that my instructions were understandable und I wish you lots of fun crafting.
Warmest regards Sonja *flati*
