Color me happy with Susen

Good morning my dears,

today I show you how I colour my images. My colouring medium are copics. I love to work with copics because you have so many different colours and the effect is great. Of course I need a long time to find out how it works but now I think I find my way. 

I prepered some step-by-step pictures for you and hope you can follow my explainations. If there are any questions please feel free to ask me. 

Guten Morgen meine Lieben,

heute zeige ich euch, wie ich einen Stempelabdruck koloriere. Mein Kolorationsmedium sind Copics. Ich liebe die Arbeit mit Copics, weil es zum einen so viele verschiedene Farben gibt und außerdem der Effekt total toll ausschaut. Natürlich habe ich eine lange Zeit gebraucht bis ich das Kolorieren richtig beherrscht habe. Nun denke ich, dass ich meinen Stil und den richtigen Weg gefunden habe.

Ich habe euch ein paar Step-by-Step Bilder vorbereitet und ich hoffe, dass ihr meinen Erläuterungen dazu folgen könnt. Solltet ihr noch Fragen haben, könnt ihr sie natürlich gerne Fragen.

You need these things: 

- Perfect Colouring Paper from Copic

- Waterproof inkpad (I use Memento Tuxedo Black)

- an acrylic block

- your stamp

- Copics 

Ihr braucht diese Dinge: 

-Perfect Colouring Paper von Copic

- Wasserfestes Stempelkissen (ich nehme immer Memento Tuxedo Black)

- einen Acrylblock

- deinen Stempel

- Copics 

First Step:
I always start with colouring the face and then all of the other body areas. I used for colouring this pirate Henrys fur following Copics:
E 44, E 43, E 42, E 41, E 40
I start with the second darkest colour, E 43. I colour those areas where I think the shadows will be. It's up to you from where you think the sun will fall on the image.
Than I take E 42 and colour in little circles over the darker colour and paint more to the middle of the image. You can see it on the second picture (right at the top). This you make with E 41 and E 40, too. At the end you'll have all areas filled out.

Erster Schritt:
Ich beginne immer mit dem Gesicht und dem Körper. Zum Kolorieren des Fells von diesem Henry habe ich folgende Copics verwendet:
E 44, E 43, E 42, E 41, E 40
Ich beginne dabei immer mit der zweit dunkelsten Farbe, E 43. Ich koloriere die Bereiche, wo ich denke, dass da Schatten ist. Es ist euch überlassen, wo ihr den Schatten malt.
Dann nehme ich E 42 und male in kleinen Kreisen über die dunklere Farbe und dann ein wenig ins Innere des Bereichs. Das könnt ihr auf dem zweiten Bild sehen (rechts oben). Dann macht ihr das gleiche mit E 41 und E 40. Am Ende habt ihr alle Bereiche ausgemalt.

After that I take the darkest colour E 44 and ad this colour in the areas where the darkest parts are. But not everywhere. Look at the first picture. Than I cover with the two lightest colours.

Anschließend nehme ich mir die dunkelste Farbe, E 44 und füge diese Farbe an die Stellen, die ich am dunkelsten haben möchte. Aber nicht überall hin. Schaut einfach auf die nächsten zwei Bilder. Dann vermale ich diese Farbe mit den zwei hellsten Farben.

At next I colur the ears and the tail (don't be surprised, I forgot to colour the tail on this next pictures but normaly I do it in the same process with the ear)
Here I work almost in the same way like at the fur. When I colour the ear I start with the darkest colour, E 11. Then I work with E00, E000, E0000

Als nächstes koloriere ich das Ohr und den Schwanz (nicht wundern, ich habe den Schwanz auf diesen Bildern vergessen zu kolorieren. Normalerweise tue ich das im gleichen Zug, wenn ich die Ohren koloriere)
Hier gehe ich fast genauso vor, wie bei dem Fell. Hier beginne ich allerdings mit der dunkelsten Farbe, E 11. Dann arbeite ich mit E00, E000, E0000 weiter.

Because the next steps are equal to the colouring of the fur I only write down the colours I used for the next steps.

Weil sich die nächsten Schritte alle wiederholen (wie beim Fell), schreibe ich euch nur noch die Farben auf, die ich für jeden einzelnen Schritt verwendet habe.
Headscarf and trousers/ Kopftuch und Hose:
BG 18, BG 15, BG 13, BG 11, BG 10

Treasure chest/ Schatztruhe:
E 27, E 25, E 23, E 21

Gold:
Y 28, Y 17, Y15, Y11

Sword and Anchor/ Schwert und Anker: 
C 3, C2, C1, 0 (Blender)

Bird/ Vogel:
YG 25, YG 23, YG 21, YG 0000
YR 23, YR 21, YR 20

Shadows around Henry/ Schatten um Henry:
E 51, E 50, 0

Tutorial Thursday

 

Hello Whiff of Joy fans and welcome to a new Tutorial Thursday!! It's Ellie here today, and my very first time posting here on the Whiff of Joy blog!

 I am so excited and a little bit nervous too, as it is actually my first step by step tutorial ever!

I decided to show you how to create a one of a kind background using shaving cream and some re-inkers. 

This is a photo of what you will need: 

regular shaving cream (not the gel kind)

2 - 3 re-inkers (I used SU, but you can also use distress inks, memento, etc.)

white heavy weight card stock (or glossy card stock)

plate

mixing utensil

paper towels (not pictured)

Step one:

Place some shaving cream onto your plate.

Add 2 to 3 drops of each color onto the foam.

Step 2

Using your mixing device mix is slightly to create a texture. 

Tip: Don't mix it too much or it will all turn one color. 

Step 3

Now place your  card stock onto the shaving cream. 

Move it around to cover the whole front with cream.

When you are done it will look like this.

Step 4

Using a paper towel start wiping the shaving cream off of the card.

 When finished it will look like this. 

I made two pieced, and note how there is a different pattern on each.  

And here is my finished project, using the super cute Henry with guitar as my main stamp.The music notes and sentiment are from the spring stamp kit as well.

Did you notice how I used one of the stamps from the kit all over the background to create more texture?
Henry was colored using copic markers, and I used my super sharp cutterbee scissors to cut him out. To finish the card I did a little bit of machine sewing, and added a button and some twine.

I hope I inspired you to get a little messy and get out your shaving cream for some inky fun!
