Box for cards or Photo`s

Hi Whiff of Joy fans,

Sonja here with a tutorial on how to make a box for your saved cards or maybe some Christmas photo`s to  put in your bag and show them to family, ore anything else you desire.
I think the photo`s will tell you enough and if not you could always ask me in the field comments ;-)
O... and just a click on the photo will make it bigger for a better look
On this Cardbox I used a stamp from the new "Winterkit 2012" so adorable this cutie.
The sentiment is from the stamp called Christmas Dance (this one isn`t in the Kit) there is a sentiment with it saying
Have yourself  a Merry Little Christmas
I also used the Snowflakes and the French Pastry Doily and some brads and pearls
Usual I love Vintage and Shabby but this way was better to show you all so clean hahah

The cards or photo`s that fits in are 16x 11 cm

I hope that I inspired you to make this ,It`s really not difficult at all;)

Halloween Cards

Hi! It's Alice here. Halloween is just a couple of days away and here are two cards that I made using some adorable Maya images to share with you.

First up is a card made using the darling Maya - Witch & Kitty On Broom. I just couldn't resist all the cute Maya images! =) The sentiment and bats are from Happy Halloween set and the piece is cut using one of the Nestable Shape - Set of 2 Dies.  The spider charm is from Box of Charm 2 - Halloween Treat.

My second card is made with the lovely Maya's Kitty On Pumpkin and the sentiment is from Happy Halloween set as well. The new challenge theme this time is Boo! Spooked You and these images will be perfect for the challenge.

Hope these have inspired you to create a few last minute Halloween cards to spice up your decoration! =)

Have a lovely day and thanks for stopping by!

hugs,
alice

Pen Holder

Hello and good morning everyone, Karina here today. Few days ago we had to move from one building to another at the company where I am working. At the new place we have new white furnitures, and I had an old ugly brown plastic pen holder from my old desk which I really didn't like to move.

First I wanted to go and buy a white or transparent one for my new place, but then thought why not creating something by myself. Thought, done...

I collected some tins, two small one that had cat food inside, and a bigger one that had Ravioli inside :o). I cleaned them and covered them first with white acrylic paint as the papers I wrapped the tins with white and blue/silver papers which was a bit transparent. And I didn't wanted the label shining trough.

Here below you can see the finished pen holder. After wrapping the tins into papers I decorated them with some lace and twine. Take card that you don's have some too keen edges! Then I glued all tins together.

Add some thick cardboard to the ground to give them a better hold.

I added this sweet birdy called 'Birdy Love', coloured with a mix of Distress Inks and Twinklings, and some flowers as well.

Doesn't it look so lovely filled with stuff? I added things I had at home to take a photo, but this holder will get a place on my working desk.

Really very easy to make and a wonderful idea to receycle some trash. I hope you enjoyed your visit here and I was able to give you some inspiration. Thank you so much for your visit!

Hugs, Karina

trick or treat?

Hallo Ihr Lieben!
Hello Whiff Of Joy lovers!

***
This is Kathrin here today and I want to share another idea for a little halloween treat - or is it a trick?

***
You'll need a matchbox for this treat. You can use a normal sized one or a bigger one, like I did here. But if you prefer to you can also make your own one using a cutting die or a tutorial from the www. You'll also need some cardstock or designer's paper to be wrapped around the matchbox (if you make your own one you can skip this step and just make your matchbox from the paper you like the best).

***
Wrap and glue down your cardstock or designer's paper around the matchbox. You can leave the drawer white or decorate it as well, just what you prefer.

***
Then decorate the outer part of the matchbox.
I only used stamps from the set Fröhliches Halloween. Those different elements are perfect to create a Halloween scene. I used illuminating ink to stamp the ghost and then used a black fineliner to trace the outlines. This way I was able to "stamp" white on white.

***
Next I glued a black tag with a white arrow to the bottom of the drawer. This is what the other side of the drawer looks like:

***
And now let's come to the fun part of my matchbox...
Therefor you'll need a strip of transparency. Use a kind of strong type of transparency. Measure the height of your drawer and then add about half of its length. This is how long your transparency strip should be. And I made mine 1,5 cm wide.
Put your strip in the drawer (standing) and bend it backwards where the brim of the drawer is. The put some doublesided tape to the flap you just created. Make sure to use a strong kind of doublesided tape!

***
Glue the transparency strip to the inner edge of your drawer and attach a stamped image or a sentiment to the strip. I used this cute bat from Whiff Of Joy here and added a saying by Stampin'Up.

Sorry for the blurry pic here, my camera always put the focus on the drawer...

***
Fill your drawer with candies, put it back in the matchbox and while closing it bend the transparency strip down so it goes inside the closed drawer.

***
If you pull the tab now to open the drawer, the strip can be seen...

***
...and will pop up once the drawer is opened up wide enough.

***
And so this box is a trick AND a treat... ;)
I hope I was able to give you some inspiration and maybe you'll find the time to make your own version of this trick-and-treat-box before Halloween.

Special Card - Holds a CD

Hi everyone, its Colleen here with you today and can you believe Christmas is just a few weeks away, so I am trying to get organised and be on top of things this year! With my family living in another country I need to be a little innovative to.

So the card I am going to share with you today, holds a CD on the inside. I am planning to make a CD of family photo's to send to our loved ones as I am not very good at keeping them up to date with our family photo's.

This card measures 140mm x 140mm so it can fit inside a standard envelope and doubles up as a Christmas card and pressie to, so lets get started.

Cut card stock 280mm x 210mm and fold in half, along 280mm length. Along the width (210mm) score at 140mm, fold and cut bottom right corner as shown below.

Fold bottom left corner in as shown below. This is going to hold your CD.

Cut patterned paper 135mm x 135mm, ink edges, stitch around edges and adhere to card. Fold bottom piece in and stitch sides as shown below, the stitching will be covered up. You can use glue or double sided tape but make sure you adhere it close to the edges to ensure there is enough space for the CD.

Cut patterned paper 65mm x 135mm, ink edges, stitch around edges and adhere to card.

Cut patterned paper 135mm x 135mm, ink edges, adhere a piece of ribbon about half way down on the right side, stitch around edges and adhere.

Now the inside of your card is ready and you can pop your CD in.

Cut patterned paper 135mm x 135mm, ink edges, adhere piece of ribbon on right hand side to align with the ribbon on the inside, stitch around edges and adhere. Adhere image, embellishments and tie ribbon to close the card.

This darling image has been coloured with Copics and is from the Secret Winter kit, isn't is cute!

Thank you for joining me today, I hope you enjoyed this and enjoy your Christmas preparations!
