Concertina Envelope Album Tutorial

Good Morning Everyone! Jane here today with a tutorial to show you how to make this lovely little concertina album made using envelopes.  I have used the adorable Henry on Rocking Horse to decorate my album.

To make the album, you will need:

4 Envelopes
2 pieces of chipboard
Patterned papers
Kraft card
Embellishments to decorate the cover
A circle or tab punch
Scoring board and tool
Craft knife, bone folder, extra strong wet glue, clothes pegs
Plain card

Step by Step instructions:

1. Glue down the flaps of all four envelopes and then slit open at the top with a craft knife.

2. Cut two pieces of chipboard the same size as your envelopes and cover with patterned papers. Mitre the corners and burnish with a bone folder until stuck down firmly

3. Cut two more pieces of patterned paper to fit the inside of the covers and stick down with wet glue burnishing the edges with your bone folder to get a neat finish

4. Cut a piece of kraft card 7inches long and the same width as your envelopes. Mine are 5 and a half inches. Score at 1.5 inches and every half an inch until the last 1.5 inches

5. Fold as shown and make sure folds are nice and crisp by using the bone folder. With the piece facing as shown above, add strong glue to each valley fold.

6. Stick together and hold with clothes pins until the glue is dry

7.  Remove the clothes pegs when dry and turn over. Stick the cover to the inside of each long tab to form the outside of the book.

8. Stick an envelope behind each tab in the book until all envelopes are in the book

9. Cut pieces of patterned paper to fit each page and stick down with glue. Punch semi circles at the top of each page. Cut a piece of card to fit inside each pocket. Your album is finished now and you can decorate the cover as you wish.

I hope you have enjoyed my tutorial. I leave you with a little close up of Henry. I added a little bow to his hair as my album is for a little girl.

Wine Tag

Hello, all! I am sharing a simple wine tag with you today. I know there are dies out there that makes making this easier, but it really doesn't take much to make your own. Here is how I made mine.

  • A piece of cardstock measures 10 1/2" x 2 1/2"
  • Scoring board.
  • Patterned paper
  • Stamped image of your choice ( I used the adorable Mini Henry Mouse Hugging Heart for my project.)
  • A circle die or punch
  • Adhesive
  • Corner Rounder (optional)
  • A small tag (optional)

First, score the cardstock at 2 1/2" and 8" on the long side. I am making a little pocket so that I can tuck a little tag in it for the recipient. If you don't want to make a pocket, you only need the cardstock to be 8" x 2 1/2" and just score at 2 1/2".

Die cut or punch a circle on one side of the cardstock.

Fold cardstock in a Z shape as shown.

Round corners (if desired).

Add patterned paper and decorate as desired.

And here you have it! You really only need a few scraps to finish this or just stamping would be fun, too.

Here is a look of the tag on a wine bottle.

Hope you will give this easy and fun project a try! =)

Thanks for stopping by!

hugs,
alice

Joy Fold Card

Hi, its Colleen here with you today. I am going to share a joy fold card that I like to make, its really easy but it just has that 'wow' factor when you want to make that something a little extra special!

You will need a sheet of cardstock, patterned paper, Whiff of Joy stamped image and sentiment stamp, ribbon and some flowers and leaves to finish it off.

Cut cardstock 21cm x 14cm, score at 14cm and fold.

Cut a second piece of cardstock 11cm x 11cm and fold in half.

Cut one piece of patterned paper 13.5cm x 13.5cm, two pieces 13.5cm x 6.5cm and one piece 10.5cm x 10.5cm.

Adhere the piece of patterned paper 13.5cm x 13.5cm and the piece 13.5cm x 6.5cm to the inside of the card.

Adhere ribbon to the second piece of patterned paper 13.5cm x 6.5cm and adhere to the front.

Adhere second piece of ribbon to patterned paper 10.5cm x 10.5cm and adhere to the folded card 11cm x 11cm.

Now you can attach the two cards together, I have attached mine with the fold on the right but this card is quite versatile you can have the fold on the top or the bottom.

Embellish the front of your card with your stamped image, sentiment, flowers and leaves. I paper pieced my princess and coloured her face and hair with Copics, then fussy cut her out. I then used 3D foam tape to adhere her to my card and created a 'garden scene' for her with the flowers, leaves and some butterflies.

Thank you for joining me today, I hope you have enjoyed this card!

Tag Card

Hi everyone, Karina here. Today I haven't a tutorial for you, but an idea I recently had. I wanted to created a card full of tags. The basic card measures 15 x 15 cm. Then I added a big tag on it sized 16 x 9 cm, like you can see blow.

I glued the finished big tag to the basic card, left one side open to put a second tag into it like you can see on my next photo. I used the Whiff of Joy Sweet Tags for this tag and for the little ones as well. The sentiment means 'I wish you a wonderful day' and is from Whiff of Joy as well.

Afterwards I attached a line of little tags onto it, decorated them with flowers.

Decorate the rest of your card as you wish. Below you can see the sweet image Birdie Love I used. I paper pieced the heart and added some clear crackle paint onto it. In the meanwhile it is crackled in the middle of the heart as well. I was a bit impatient to take pictures :o)

Well, I hope you like my idea and feel inspired to create a tag card as well.
Have a wonderful day!
Hugs, Karina

Shading with Prismacolour Pencils...

Hi Lori here with a few tips on adding some shadows using prisma colour pencils.
I will be using the new Fireman Henry from Whiff of Joy and the great sketch is the current WOJ challenge head over and check it out! The  Pennant Die is also from Whiff of Joy!

First off I start by stamping my image in Memento black ink onto cardstock. I use X-press it Blending card as it works great with copics and is really easy to blend the prismacolour pencils as well.

I start by colouring my image with copics.  I use Stampin' Up Chalks and Q-tips to rub on the cheeks.

Time to start shading the hose. I am using a Dark Cool Grey Pencil.

I pencil in some colour along the bottom edges of the hose where I would like the shadows to be. This doesn't have to be perfect, we will blend in the next step.

My favourite blending technique is using blending stumps as shown. I have a little plastic container with a sponge and some baby oil. I dip the tip of the stump on the sponge to pick up some of the baby oil.

Next working in a circular motion I start at the bottom and blend the colour outwards.

Next I want to add some shading to the Fire Hydrant. I am using Tuscan Red. I am only laying the colour down on the one side where I would like the shadow.

Next continue blending with the same technique as before. I use a different stump when I switch colours.

Next I added some shading to Henry's Coat and Hat. I used a Warm Brown Pencil.

Blend it in so it has a smoother finish.

I always use my pencils for making my ground shadows.  Here using a warm grey I sketch around the base of the stamp.

Next blend it in for a smooth finish.

If you would like a shadow around your image lightly go completely around the image using a warm grey pencil.  You can really use any colour, even blue if you would like a sky look. Feel free to play around and add more or less depth as you feel necessary. For this stamp I didn't add any shadows to Henry's fur. If I was to I would use a dark brown colour in the same way as the rest of the shading.  I finished off adding a few highlights with a white gel pen. (see top photo)

 Copics and Pencils used.
These are just some of the ways I like to colour. Always experiment with your supplies, it is so fun!
