Decorated Stair Step card Tutorial

Good Morning Everyone! Jane here today with a tutorial to show you how I decorated my stairstep card which I made using one of the adorable new releases at Whiff of Joy, Maya watching a ladybug, which is available here from Whiff of Joy.

To make the card, you will need:

Maya watching ladybug stamp coloured in image
12x12 pink cardstock
Various patterned papers including a cloud paper and 2 green papers
Paper flowers
Stick on pearls and gems
Grass border punch
Small butterfly punch
Paper trimmer
Scoreboard
Label and circle dies

Step by Step Instructions:

1. Cut a piece of cardstock to 10.5 inches by 5 inches.  Score  at 1.25, 2.5, 4.25 ,6 and 8.25 inches.

2. Fold into an accordion with hills and valleys, make sure that the first smallest is folded down, as this is the piece which will form the front of your card.

3. Die cut a label shape to form your sky, a fence and cut 2 strips from lighter green patterned paper, both should be 5 inches long and one should be 4 cm wide, the other should be 2.5cm. Punch borders to make grass. Repeat with 2 darker green strips which are 4cm wide and another which is 2cm wide.
Cut a piece of pink card to measure 5 inches by 9cm

4. Add all your pieces to the card. Start on the front tab and add darker green strip so it slightly overlaps the fold. Add lighter green piece in front with foam pads. On the middle section, add the darker green section first to overlap the folded edge, add the lighter green piece towards the bottom. Add the fence which you have trimmed to size with foam pads. Add the sky die cut to the pink paper and add a strip of punched grass to the bottom. Add to last piece.

5. Now is the fun part! You can decorate your card as you wish with flowers, your stamped image and butterflies and the sentiment added to a scalloped circle. Here is a close up of little Maya in her garden looking at the little ladybug! I wish the sun shined like this in my Garden!

I hope you have enjoyed my tutorial. Have a lovely day!

No-line coloring

Hello! It's Alice here and I am sharing a card that I made using the no-line coloring technique. I didn't come up with this idea, but I have seen beautiful cards made with it and this is my first time trying it. Here is how I do it.

You will need:

  • Stamp of your choice. I used the darling Maya Watching a Ladybug.
  • A light/pale color ink. I used Memento Angle Pink since I wanted to color with Copic markers.
  • Cardstock for coloring.
  • Markers. (not shown)
  • A place with good lighting when coloring.

First, ink the stamp well with the ink and stamp on the cardstock. You can see the faint pink image. Just make sure you have good lighting when working on this. I also like to color my images according to the patterned paper that I plan on using for the cards. In this case it's Sidewalks from October Afternoon.

Here is how it looks as I color.

Skin.

Jeans

T-shirt

Bonnet

Hair

Flowers

Grass

And here you have it, a finished image. I did went in with a brown marker and added eyes since you couldn't really see them after coloring. Here is the finished card.

I really like the effect of this technique, it looks like the image was hand drawn and it gives a softer look.

Hope you will give this fun technique a try and thanks for stopping by! =)

hugs,
alice

Folding Card

Hi everyone! Today I (Henrikke) am going to show you how to make an easy folder card to get away some left over papers. Normally when I buy papers I buy the whole collection. The designers has made the collection because the papers fit togther, and this makes it so easy to mix and match. That´s way I keep all my left overs. So today I´ll show you a card that is great for these papers. The only thing you need is a 12x12" cardstock and what ever papers/stamps you want to put on.

Folding Card
Supply list:
- 12x12" cardstock
- Double sided teip
- Scoreboard
- Cutting knife/
Cutting Board
- Ribbon
- Left over paper

Cut the paper at 6x12".

Take your two pieces and make sure that they are the same size.

Use a scoring board.

First, score at 3", turn the paper and than score at 6".

Take the other paper and do the same.

Line them up like the photo shows you. We are going to glue the two pieces together.

Put glue/double sided tape on the area that has no scorelines and is 6x6".

When you glue them together you can fold them and if you measured this up right, they should fit perfectley together. If they don´t you can always cover it up with some papers.

Now this is the time for the left overs. Because you have so many small areas (3x6", 6x6"), you can really use all the little papers you have left. Here you can see how I started to cover up my pages.

Now, you need one big piece (almost 4,5x4,5" or 5x5"). This one needs to go on you card, but you can only glue it to one of your flips. Othervise you won´t be able to open it up.

We also need some ribbon so we can close the card. Again, the ribbon is only been glues on to one little piece and just on one of the flips. Don´t glue it on the backside or anything.

Here you can see how little teip the ribbon needs.

Than we are gluing on our second piece. Again, we can only put teip on half of it, because we want to be able to open our card.

Now it´s the fun part. Find your embellishments, stamp, flowers, doilys and other stuff. But remember,  don´t glue anything so the card will be stock together. You want to be able to open it!

Here is the card finished and here you get to see the actual colours. Because the card was done by nighttime the other photos has really misleadning colours, sorry about that.

Here is how the card will look when you open it.

Teelight Holder

Hi everyone, today I want to show you another great gift idea; a teelight holder.

Here is what you need:

  • Cardstock 13 x 24 cm (for the box)
  • Cardstock 9 x 24 cm (for the backpanel)
  • Designerpaper
  • Scorpal
  • Circlecutter or Die
  • Glue
  • Tealightglass
  • Tealight

Score the first cardstock for the box at 2, 11, 13, 22 and 24 cm like you see on the photo above.

Then score the other side on 2 and 11 cm.

Fold the scores and cut like shown on the photo. Then draw an X on the one square to make it easier to get the exact hole to put in the tealightglass.

Cut a hole in the size of your tealightglass.

When you decorate your box I decorated the upper side with the hole before I glued the box together. This way you cut the designpaper and make another hole just a little bit bigger just at the right place. Then glue the box together and decorate three sides.

Then take the other piece of cardstock which is the ground and the back panel of your holder. Score at  9 cm. The shorter part is the ground. Place a piece of adhesive tape at the height of 2 cm. Now decorate the longer side. When you add the tape first you know where exactly you can decorate that the decoration will not be covered when you add the box.

Now you have the back panel and the box. Just glue everything together. And now you can add some flowers and other embellishments just as you wish. And now your tealight holder is finished.

Here is a closer look of the box.

... and of the panel. I used one of the newest images from the 'Simply Maya' serie 'Picking Toadstoals'. I coloured her with Distress Inks.

I hope my tutorial is understandable. If you have any questions just feel free to ask. Now it's up to you to give it a try.

Hugs, Karina

Place Cards / Tischkarten

Hallo Ihr Lieben,

Hi Dearies,
Today I've got the following idea for place cards for you. Using the Swirly Diecut by Sizzix (cut out 3x per place card) I've created a little "card stand". On top of this comes then the place card. That one I've made with the sweet Henry on his airplane... Et voilà :)

faltet alle Schnörkel in der Mitte...
fold each swirl in the middle...

dann klebt Ihr immer 3 Swirls aneinander, damit so ein dreibeiniger Ständer entsteht...
then stick allways 3 swirls together, to create a three leg stand...

dekoriert das Tischkärtchen Eurem Anlass entsprechend, denn die Ständerchen könnt Ihr, wenn sie aus neutralem Papier gemacht sind auch für weitere Anlässe benutzen und nur die Kärtchen austauschen...
decorate the place card matching your event, as you can keep your stands, if made of neutral paper and just change the place cards for another event...

und hier einige Details...
and here some details...

Eine simple Idee für jeden Kindergeburtstag oder jede Festtafel... Guten Appetit :)
A simple idea for every kids birthday or any banquet... Bon Appetit :)
