Tissue paper texture by Alice

Hello all! It's Alice here. I have a simple way of adding textures to your projects to share with you today. I first learned of this technique here and really liked it and here is how I make mine.

You will need:

-Tissue paper (I used white here.)
-Liquid adhesive (I used Ranger's Glue & Seal, I think any kind of liquid adhesive would work.)
-Cardstock (I used watercolor paper)
-A foam brush (for applying the liquid adhesive)
-A pair of scissors (not shown)

First, crumble up the tissue paper.

Reopen it. I didn't flatten it out too much since the folds gives the texture we are looking for here.

Coat card stock with a thin layer of liquid adhesive.

Press the crumbled tissue paper over the card stock. Let dry.

Trim off the excess tissue paper.

Here you have a piece of card stock with some textures on it.

You can stamp over it or ink it. Here is what I made with my piece:

I cut a tag out of it and inked the whole piece with Milled Lavender and Aged Mahogany distress inks to match my colored Huge Love. The sentiment is from the General Sayings II set.

This is a very easy and fun technique, hope you will give it a try! =)

Thanks for stopping by and hope you have a lovely day!

hugs,
alice

Princess Treat Bag by Sandie

Hi everyone. Today I would like to share with you how I make my treat bags.

You will need -
Plain White or Kraft Bags
Patterned Patterned Papers
Stamps
Die cut machine
Various dies
Embellishments of choice

Step 1 - Colour your image and trim out

Step 2 -  Trim your papers and use the picket fence die to cut out the fence. Ink the edges of all your papers and your fence.

Step 3 - Assemble your layers, mounting your image on 3D pop dots.

Step 4 - Once your layers are assembled adhere them to the front of your bag.

Step 5 - Add flowers, die cut leaves and any other embellishments of choice

Step 6 - Fill the bag with treats, fold down the top twice and staple in the middle

Step 7 - Stamp your sentiment and cut out using circle cutters. Ink the edges and mat onto scalloped circle.

Step 8 - Punch a hole at the top of the circle and thread some fibres or ribbon through. Adhere to the top of the bag.

And that completes the gift bag.  I hope you enjoyed my tutorial and are inspired to make your own. Thanks so much for looking

Sandie

Lace Flower by Lori

Hi all, Lori here with a quick and easy tutorial on how to make your own lace flowers using scrap bits of lace as seen here. The gorgeous Princess is part of the Whiff of Joy Fall Stamp Kit and will be available in September as an individual stamp, isn't she gorgeous!

Supplies: 1 piece of lace approximately 14 inches.
Brad or pearls for the centre.
Some thread and a needle.

I used a piece of lace approximately 14 inches long. You can use shorter pieces too. My piece of lace is 1 inch thick. If you use a small thickness you will have a smaller flower.

Thread your needle but no need to knot it. Loosely weave the needle along the top edge of your lace. I used black since it's easier to see.

Hold the top end of the thread and using your fingers slide the lace toward the bottom scrunching it up. Make sure not to push it off the end of the thread.

Once it's scrunched up. Tie the top end of the thread to the bottom end in a knot and cut the loose ends. Fan out the shape until it resembles this.

Finally all you need to do is add a brad/pearl to the centre and you're done. Hope you'll give it a try it only takes a couple of minutes.

Exploding Scrapbook Tutorial

Good Afternoon Everyone, Jane here! I hope you are having a good weekend. I have been busy crafting today and have been making an exploding Scrapb0ok ready to fill with memories from my holiday. In my tutorial today, I will be showing you how to make an exploding scrapbook decorated to look like a suitcase using some of the adorable new Henry stamps available from Whiff of Joy.

To complete the Project, you will need:

3 12x12 inch sheets of plain cardstock ( I used Kraft on my Project)
Ribbon
Ribbon sliders
Patterned papers and embellishments to decorate your Project
2 pieces of chipboard cut to 13.2cmx13.2cm
Double sided tape and glue
A bone folder
A button and twine
Velcro fastening
Stick on gems
A circle die or punch
Henry Which Direction stamp
Henry Around the World stamp
Henry Looking for Adventures stamp
Adventure Awaits sentiment stamps

To make the Exploding Scrapbook:

Cut three pieces of cardstock to measure 10 inches by 10 inches. Fold 1 in half and crease with bone folder.

Open up and turn and fold opposite edges together so the paper is divided into four squares by the folds.

Open up and fold corner to corner so you end up with a fold through the diagonal.

Turn the sheet over and fold in on the diagonal score lines so you end up with a collapsed square. Repeat with two other 10x10inch sheets.
Open up and with the diagonal mountain folds upwards, add tape to the right hand square.Open up another folded sheet, turn the oppposite way up and stick two sheets together so the squares are stuck on top of each other.
Stick third piece on so it is facing the same way up as the first piece to make a concertina book.

Now all pages of the book have been added. Fold up the book.

Cut two pieces of Chipboard to measure 13.2x13.2cn, cover with patterned papers, mitring the corners.

Decorate the front cover by adding ribbon attached with double sided tape and corners made by cutting a die cut or punched circle into quarters. Thread pieces of ribbon 6cm long through ribbon sliders and stick ends together with double sided tape.

Cut a piece of card to 0.9cm x15cm. Thread through ribbon sliders folding 2cm each end and glueing with strong glue. Attach to reverse of book cover as shown. Add double sided tape to cover.
Cut a strip of Kraft card 1.5cm x15cm, notch edges and add to top of back cover. Add velcro dot to the end of the strip to use as a closure for the book.
Sandwich the folded book pages in between the finished covers . You are now ready to decorate the book.

I added some tickets from my stash to the front cover and some stick on gems , a charm tied around the handle and an image of Henry Around the World which I coloured with Promarkers. I also added a button to finish off the fastening.
Here is the inside of my album ready for some photos and journalling. I also added little pockets for memorabilia.
Here is a close up of the inside. I made the compass using a stamp from the Adventure Awaits sentiment stamps by stamping the compass image on patterned paper. I cut a little arrow and then cut a circle from acetate and a frame from silver card using my nesties and layered everything up attaching the compass needle with a tiny brad.
This is another close up of the inside. I used coordinating papers from my scraps box to match the K+Co map paper and took my inspiration from these colours to colour in my images with Promarkers.
I hope you have enjoyed my tutorial and will be inspired to give this a try. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
