Gift box by tanjaak

Hi all! Hope you had a lovely time with your friends and family...and of course ate a lot of chocolate LOL! I sure did, what better excuse there is than Christmas to eat a lot of goodies. And why should you stop for these three days as New Year is just around the corner. Here's a small idea on what to take with you when you go to a friends house on New Years Eve.

As I said I ate a lot of chocolate during these Christmas days and I realized I was left with some chocolate boxes that were too cute to be thrown away. So the easiest way to make a gift box is to just decorate one. So the first thing you need is a chocolate box, then some cardstock and dp's, adhesive, stamps, ink and embellishments.

Measure the sides of your boxes and cut your cardstock and dp correspondingly. Also cut a tag from cardstock with WoJ's Magical tag die.

I have stamped the tag with a cute gnome (Uru with candycane) drawn by Norma Fickel and then I have also stamped a sentiment circle into it.

Now here's the finished project, the box all decorated and filled with delicious cookies.

Hope you enjoyed this little tutorial. Thanks for looking!

A Jazzy Little Christmas Handbag Gift Card Holder!!

Hi Everyone, my name is Karen, and I would like to share with you today how to make a cute Handbag Gift Card Holder - so much jazzier than just the ordinary envelope they normally come in!!

Ok so down to business, this tutorial is quite long, as there is lots of little tips and heaps of pictures to get it just right!!  Obviously you can change it, depending on what size you would like to end up with!!

Here is a picture of most of the things you will need to complete your little bag:

Here is the list of things you will require:
  • Double Sided Patterned Paper
  • Silver Card Stock or co-ordinating card stock with your Paper
  • Whiff of Joy Coloured Image - I've used Angel and Trumpet - Christmas 2010
  • Paper Trimmer
  • Scoreboard (if you have one)
  • Bone Folder
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Hole Punch/crocodile punch thingy or an Eyelet punch - which is what I use
  • Spellbinders Nestablilities - I've used Labels 2 - using the largest Die
  • Embellishments: Silver Tassel, Ribbon, Assorted Bling and Pearls & Something to make the Clasp - like a button or a flower, I've used a Mirror Snowflake
  • Velcro Dot
  • Double Sided Sticky Tape
  • and Normal Sticky Tape
1. First thing we need to do is, cut out your Label in the silver card, and then fold it in half.

2. Next we need to cut two holes for the ribbon handle to go through, so on one side of your label place two holes either side, as shown in the pic below:

3. Next we need to place the ribbon through the holes.  So first place your tassel on the ribbon then pop the ribbon through the holes and then tape down with just some normal sticky tape, as shown below: now pop that bit a side as we will need it later.
4. Next, we need to cut a 4 1/2" x 12" piece of paper from our Double Sided Patterned Paper.  Once you have cut it out, you need to score at 6" and then the next step is to fold it in half, so now is measures 4 1/2" x 6
Now comes the slightly tricky bit, you need to grab your ruler and measure... eeck I know I hate measuring, but for this to work properly - we need to!! hahah..
5. Measure 1/2" in from each side along the top. Your fold is at the bottom.  see the pic below:
6. Place your folded paper into your trimmer and cut diagonally.  So you will be cutting from your pencil mark down to the point on the bottom (which is the folded bit) and then do the same on the other side see the picture below:
Now our folded paper looks hopefully like this?? it should measure approx. 3 1/2" along the top and still 4 1/2" along the bottom fold!!

7. Ok now what we need to do, is grab our label or our Handbag flap and place a bunch of Double Sided Sticky tape to the inside - where the ribbon is, see the pic below:
8. We now peel off our tape and stick our flap onto the top of our bag - like the picture below:
9. We can now add our Coloured Image, this will form the pocket for the Gift Card to go.  So when your placing your tape you need to make sure you leave a bit open for the card to slide down into.  See my picture below:
10. Now pop it in place, and you can finish decorating the inside!!!

11. And now for the very last bit, the Velcro dot!! I like to stick my dot on one side first then I close the flap.  That way you will ensure that the Velcro matches up, every time with no problems!!
Congratulations - now your finished, time to admire your handy work!!  Here is a picture of mine finished with the Handbag closed up..
and here it is all pretty and open so you can see!!

So There you go, I hope you have enjoyed my first Whiff of Joy Tutorial, and I hope I have inspired you all to give it a go.  Its a lot of fun and actually rather easy once you get into it!!

Hugs, Karen

Altered deep photo box with Nana

Hello from me GD Nana and today I'm going to show you an altered deep photo box idea. You will need:

1 deep photo box (from any gift or photo shop) mine is 4.5 x 4.5"
Antique white acrylic paint
distress ink for the edges (I used frayed burlap)
image of your choice

I love this Winter Church stamp from Christmas collection 2010. It is so gorgeous that it does deserve to be framed!

Color your image with medium of your choice. Here I have used distress inks. Remember while coloring to check how it will look in the box. You might need to add some more color here and there. When you are completely happy with your image just put it in and close.

If you feel extra crafty you can decorate the frame itself. Here I have added some small stones, spattered with a bit of acrylic paint and glued a decorative fence and a flower.

Making a plain frame will give you the freedom to change the picture inside at any time you want to and it will look as good as new one :)

Here is my finished deep photo box to go with my Christmas decoration. Hope you have enjoyed this tutorial and got inspired to do some of your own.

Thank you for stopping by and have a great day!

hugs Nana - Nana' (s) crap

Christmastree decoration by Louise

Hi everyone!
My name is Louise and I´m honoured to be a GDT in december and january.
I want to show you how to make a christmas tree decoration with some ingredients you probably have in your pantry already.
I remember doing these decorations for our christmas tree with my mother as a child and I loved it, a treasured memory. Hopefully you´ll find some inspiration from my post and create memories of your own now. ;)

Here´s the recipe for the frosting:
* 4 decilitre icing sugar
* a few drops of acetum
* 1 eggwhite

I started off with chosing which stamp to use (it´s so hard, sooo many beauties to pick from ;)) Decided to use Betty and Henri wintermice. Continue by inking it and use an appropriate die to cut out the image.

Here´s mine!

To be able to build up your decoration with the frosting you need to use a bigger piece of cs behind the image. There´s no need to cut it out perfectly. (You´ll see why in a little while)

Before you stick the two pieces togheter with an effective glue (the decoration get´s heavy) place a matching ribbon in between the pieces.
Take your frosting and start piping it to the image with one line...

....til it looks like this :)
Before you start applaying your second line of bigger piping with the frosting cut off all superfluous cs.

Apply your second line now.
When you feel it´s ready it´s time to start decorating it! You can use almost anything.

Mine looks like this before I added stickles star dust to the image and at the frosting

And like this after my appliance ;) If you look closely you can see the stickles on Betty´s hat amongst other places :)

Have fun!

Love Louise
