An easy shaker card by tanjaak

Hello everyone! I´d like to share with you an easy way to make shaker cards. This is my very first tutorial ever so try to bare with me. My favourite adhesive when making cards is doublesided tape and boy do I use lots of it... and when you are done with the tape you are left with a cardboard circle perfect for an easy shaker card. You could also use 3d tape or pads but using that circle is easy and inexpensive...and you are also recycling in the process LOL.

So let´s get started.
You´ll need the following materials to make a shaker card:

cardboard circle (about 6mm thick)

cardstock circle (for the image, I used an image from the Birdie Love Stamp Kit)

cardstock/paper circle (for the border)

clear film

adhesive of your choice

buttons to go inside the shaker

papers and cardstock for the card

embellishments

The easiest way to make sure your circles are the right size is to use the cardboard circle as a template. The paper border circle has to be just big enough to cover the cardboard circle so it´s really up to you how big of an opening you want to have.

Now that you have all your materials ready it´s time to start putting it all together.

Step 1: glue the clear film to the back of the paper circle, make a border if you want

Step 2: glue the cardboard ring into place, make sure you let the glue to dry properly

Step 3: position your shaker facing down and add the buttons, glue your image onto the shaker (facing down), leave to dry

Step 4: your shaker is ready, it´s time to start embellishing it!

I added lots of flowers an pearls, but you could embellish your shaker as much or as little as you wish. I also decorated the backside and made mine into a hanging ornament, if you adhere yours straight to your card there´s no need to decorate the back.

The sentiment is from the Blooming Spring Store stamp kit and is also available as a part of a Spring sentiments stamp set (set of 12 sentiments).
Here´s  a few picture´s of my finished creation.

Hope you liked my tutorial and thanks for stopping by. Have fun crafting!

Pocket cards by Aija

Hi, today I made some simple pocket cards. There is so many ways how you can add pockets on your projects and here is one of them.

On the pink card I used this fairy image illustrated by Allison. I adde a small pocket on the left up corner.

And here you can see the hidden text tag you can pull out form the pocket.

Then I made a blue bigger pocket with the organza ribbon. First I tied one ribbon around and then added another piece of ribbon and knotted it.

Here is the "shopping Willow" pulled out from the pocket.

On the back side of the Willow there is another pocket for a gift card. I think that shopping Willow is a perfect decoration for the gift card.

Nowdays those gift cards are often electronic and sized like a credit.

Here is the picture of the different size cirkle punches I have used to do the pockets.

I wish you all a great Sunday!

Head pins with pearls

This is my very first tutorial here at Whiff of Joy, and I would like to show you how I make
my head pins with pearls.
I love them as embellishments on cards.
You can use them along with flowers, ribbons or just put them behind the card stock!

Here is what you need:

Head pins
(I have used the one you can buy at Whiff of Joy)
Pearls
Pincers
Glue
Oasis

Here is my tray with pearls.

Step 1:
If the head pin is crooked, use your pincer to straighten it.

Step 2:
Start with treading pearls on to the head pin.
Hold the last pearl on a little distance to the second last pear.

Step 3:
Add glue to the pin in between the two last pearls,
and now push the last pearl up to the rest of the pearls.

Step 4:
Stick the head pin up side down in the oasis, to allow the glue to dry.
I have covered the bottom of the oasis with plastic wrap so the green stuff don't get all over my papers and stamps.

And voila;
here are the head pins ready to go on a card!

Here is my finished card with the head pins as part of the flower decorations:
  One last tip:
Making head pins with pearls, is a great activity in front of the TV ;o)
I hope you like my tutorial, have a wonderful day!

Punched flowers with Distress Ink

I show you a tutorial to make these flowers.

For the flowers above, I have used these 3 Punches but of course you could also use other flower punches if you don' have these shapes.

For one flower you need 4 big, 3 middle and 3 little ones. I have used normal white cardstock.

Colour them with Distress Ink. You can use as many colours as you desire.

Then you have to make a little hole in the middle of each flower to put the brad inside. Put all flowers together.

Make everything wet by using a mini mister, so that the cardstock becomes soft. After that you have to fold each blossom to the inside and press it together.

If you feel that the cardstock isn't soft enough than make it wet again.

Now you have to use the hot air gun and open the flower a little bin.

You can embellish it now as you please. Use the flower either "plain", with a little bit of Stickles/Glimmer Mist or stamp a text or swirls on it. That's it!

I hope you like my tutorial and wish you a perfect day.

Hugs,
Ranita

Buttons

Today I would like to show you how I always have the suitable buttons for my cards available

It really does not take long.
 All you need is:
any chosen punch (heart punch from SU)
 Glue
Crop ( to make the button holes)
Cardstock
Design  paper
Glossy accents'

First you punch 4 x card stocks with your punch and 1 x design paper

then glue all 5 parts on top of each other

You can distress the corners with Distress ink as an option

Next step is to punch the holes with the Crop as we want them to look like a button

last but not least I overlay it with Glossy accents to give the buttons its last touch

thereby the buttons obtain a beautiful glossy touch after they have dried

I hope I was able to inspire you with this little tutorial...

Creating your own background (dry embossing) - by Naoual

Hi everyone! Thanks so much for stopping by!
My name is Naoual and today I'm going to show you how to create a beautiful - yet very simple to do - background. I hope you'll enjoy it!

The supplies you'll need for this tutorial are:

- whichever die cutting machine you use
- a Cuttlebug embossing folder
- ink (I use the Colorbox cat's eye)
- a piece of paper of your choice

Open your embossing folder, take your ink and apply it on the side of the embossing folder that has the raised parts. Be sure to really cover the raised parts with ink.

After you've covered it in ink you take your piece of paper and put the side of the paper that you want the ink on onto the inked side of the embossing folder.
Next just close the embossing folder and put it trough your die cutting machine like you normally do.
After embossing, take the piece of paper out, ink the edges and now it should like this:

Isn't it pretty?
For my card I used this technique on a piece of dp:

The image I used for this card is one of the smaller exclusive stamps you get for free when you spend 50 euros or more at Whiff of Joy!
I made a 10 cm by 10 cm card with it, everyone who sees these small cards loves them and the size of these exclusive stamps are just perfect for them.

This image can also be found in the february stamp kit - in normal size.

I decided to keep my card simple, didn't want to cover the background to much, and with such a lovely image, the card doesn't need much more, don't you agree?
;)

Recipe:

Papers: My Minds Eye; Bloom & Grow

Stamp: Whiff of Joy
Ink: Memento, Colorbox
Colour medium: Copic Sketch Markers

Embellishments: Gems; Melissa Francess
Tools: Embossing folder; Cuttlebug

Again, thank you so much for stopping by today,
Have a fabulous weekend!

xx
