Another flower tutorial

Today is my last day as a guest designer for Whiff Of Joy - and what better way to say bye than with a blog post here? So, I am going to show you another easy way to make your own flowers and since those remind me of daffodils they are perfect for easter time.

You need to cut or punch a 5-petal flower. Any shape or size will work:

As the next step ink up the edges of your flower. It´s enough to ink up 4 of the 5 petals:

Cut a slit between the uninked and one of the inked petals:

Put some glue on top of the uninked petal and glue the one next to it on the top. This will create the shape of your flower and add the dimension:

Take a strip of paper or cardstock, about 2,5 cm high and cut little slits in it, very close to each other. You´ll only need about 1,5 cm in length but it´s easier to work with a longer strip. If you want to you can ink up the top egde of your strip in a different or darker color:

Now roll about 1,5 cm (depends a bit on the size of your flower - the larger the flower, the more you´ll need) of your strip very close and fix the end with some glue. Then bend the little pieces of papers outwards:

Make a hole in the middle of your flower, put some glue around it and put your stem in it. Put aside until the glue has dried:

All you need to do now is to bend the flower petals a bit, cut off the excess of your stem on the back and decorate your card with this flower. And this is what it can look:

I also made some smaller flowers using a flower which petals are round on the top to decorate the flowers in her hands.
The stamp is from the very first Store Stamp Kit from Whiff Of Joy.

I hope you enjoyed this little tutorial.

File Folder Card by Inge Groot

Front
Don't you love to make a little project for a good friend (or recieve one, I treasure the ones I got;-)). Well this time I've decided to create a File Folder Card for a sweet craftfriend who is always very generous to me.
Okay let's start. Cut one piece of Kraft Cardstock 16 x 15 cm and cut one piece of cardstock 15 x 15 cm.

Take the Coluzzle nested File Folder Template and cut out shape "3" out of the 16 x 15 piece of cardstock. (the one wiht the round shape on top) Take your other piece of cardstock and cut out the other side of shape "3"
Now you have two different pieces of cardstock who fit to each other as shown on the pic above.
Score both pieces on 1,5 cm and put them together. Measure and place the office clip on the file folders. make two holes and put the clip in place. Now the fun part begins, let's decorate!

Gem flourishes

Hello everyone.  It's a very quick post from me today as I have had so much to get done before heading off to the NEC, and to be honest I am clean out of ideas right now.  So today I am going to share how I use the Bazzill Bling templates to make flourishes and swirls on my cards.
I have used Melinda Helping Angel from Whiff of Joy – it’s ages since I used her and must say that she is my all time favourite WOJ stamp.  I just love Melinda, she has the sweetest face I think.

This is so quick and easy to do.  I make up the card and attach the image so I can decide where I am going to place the swirl on the card in the available space.  Then take your preferred Bazzill template (there are quite a few different types, I have used the flourishes one) and decide where you want the flourish to be.  I tend to only use parts of the flourish and rotate and flip the template till I get a design I am happy with, marking with a pencil where I want to place the gems through the pre-punched holes in the template.

Then just pop the gems over the pencil marks.  I like to use different sizes and shades of the same colour if possible.  And there you have it, a really cheap flourish with no wastage at all.

Emboss resist background by Alice

Hi all! I am here to share a technique that I love and use all the time. This technique is called "emboss resist." I learned this at Jennifer McGuire's "Thinking Inking" class at Two Peas last year. Here is how it's done:

You will need the stamp image that you want to use as your background, cardstock, embossing ink pad, clear embossing powder and a heat gun. I used this pretty flower stamp from the Birdie Love stamp kit.

I started by stamping the flower image all over the cardstock with my Big & Bossy embossing ink. I usually start at a corner and work outwards with some spaces between each stamped image until the whole cardstock is covered.

Then sprinkle the clear embossing powder over the stamped cardstock and tap off excess. I store my clear embossing powder in a plastic container for easy access and no mess.

With the heating tool, heat the images until all the embossing powder were melted.

With a ink applicator and a felt attachment and start inking your embossed cardstock with the distress ink of your choice. I used a yummy new color - tumbled glass.

This is how it looked after you are done inking the piece. You can use as much ink as you want to get the best result that you desire. I wanted the background color to be a light blue so I didn't use a lot of ink.

Here is my final card:

I used the beautiful Willow image and sentiment from the store stamp kit - Blooming Spring for my card and I just love the light blue background for this card! =) Hope you will try this fun technique, too!

Magnets by Aija

There is many great text stamps at Whiff of Joy selection. I wanted to try some magnets with these texts.

Here is different shapes and decorations. I used flexible magnetic sheet. Used punces to cut heart and cirkle. Oval and label is cutted with scissors. On the friendship I used seepia accent and on the oval there is crackle accen and as you can see it was not a succes :)
These two are laminated and I glued a magnet button to the back side.

Here is a memory card, very sturdy and lovely shape. My daughter does not play with these anymore so I can use them :) Very lovely picture but I altered it to be more "adult" one.

Here is picture from the back side. I glued a magnet button to this one also.

I used some white gesso for background to cover the picture. I like to work with gesso because it hides very well and is quick drying.

I stamped a flower on the background and lovely text on it. Added some seepia accent on to flowers. Some brown ink on the edges and then pink crackle paint and final touch with glitter glue.
Magnets are very quick to do and makes great small gifts to go.

Using Twinkling H20s over Copics ~ Video Tutorial by Jeanette

Hi Everyone! This is Jeanette from Canada and I have made a video tutorial for you on how I use Twinkling H20s over my Copic marker coloring.

I have used the Henry Hugging Heart image that was stamped on Neenah Solar Crest paper with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then colored with Copics. You can see how I did my copic marker coloring by visiting my Youtube channel . The Whiff of Joy on-line store carries a huge assortment of Twinkling H20s as well as water-tank brushes like the one I use in the video. You can see them -->here<--

I hope this was helpful and will inspire you to add a little “twinkle” to your WOJ images too!

A giftbox for Easter by Camilla S. Bakke

Hi! Today I will show you how I made an Easter giftbox. Under you can see the papers I used, pluss the gorgeous stamp illustrated by Norma Fickel for Whiff of Joy.
Here are the measurements for the box. With this measures I will have a box at the size 11x11x3,5 cm.
I have made the box and the cover separately.

Under you see how the papers looks like after I have inked and sewed them.
I use some adhesive tape to fasten them on all four sides.
And now for the cover:
I have put them together and seved the cover aswell. Then I place it on the side of the box, to see where I am going to fasten them together.
I use the strips I made with the word window punch, and eight brads. Make sure you have some space between the to parts, so it also can bend.
I also use the strips with some smaller brads to fasten the sides together. Under you see the inside of the box. I could also have fasten them on the outside...
And under you see the outside of the box.
Now all sides are fastened, and the box is ready to be decorated.
And here it is! The girl with the lamb is coloured with Distress Ink, re-inkers on water colour paper 300g. I have used a 00 size brush.
A closeup:
The whole cover:
And inside some yummy chocolate-balls filled with milkcream;))
Here you see the box from the other side, with the strips. I think they made a spesial decoration.
Thank you so much for looking at my tutorial today! Hope you got inspired!
Hugs, Camilla.
